I'm glad Allan was able to make it back on the field for the playoff run and experience that excitement before his career was over.

He was a solid player for his career here and I wish him well.

If he goes and goes outside the division, and with Zach Martin announcing retirement , that's two big defensive players out of our division. I bet Eagle fans like that idea.
It's been 3 seasons since Jon Allen was a big defensive player. He has pretty much sucked the past 2 seasons and is way overpaid. I'm glad to see Peters has recognized this and the team will finally be moving on.

Yeah, have to agree with that and I'm fine with the move. That whole Fantastic Four story didn't really pan out for us and I'll put more on coaching and the culture under Snyder than on overestimating the physical talent. Chase Young sure didn't turn out big for us either. 😡

Here's to those kind of missteps being much less frequent moving forward. This draft will really give us more of an idea about sustained efficacy of this new outfit.
Allen had his best seasons under Snyder, once he sold the team Jon Allen turned into heavily paid warm body.

You're a bit tough on him DGF as he's always been an important leader in the locker room. That is as important as stats sometimes, if not more.

So I'm a bit sad seeing the team allowing him to seek a trade, but understand also the business part of the job. Obviously we have some youngsters that can and will take the leading role in the upcoming months and onfield production is not likely to miss a beat without him.

I'll put him in the category of "Great players that didn't earn anything because he played for Snyder".

Again his best seasons, by far, took place when Snyder was owning the team.

I was thriled when the Redskins drafted him, I thought the Ravens made a mistake by drafting McAlister. So I was no hater. But soon it became clear to me that he was overrated and living off his college hype. I know what a 2 time Pro Bowler looks like and I sure didn't see that. He only had 2 really good season IMO, to his credit one was the year after he signed his new deal. But even in his 2 Pro Bowl seasons he wasn't any sort of game wrecker, he was merely very good. I simply will never believe he was a great player here. Lavar was a 3 time Pro Bowler. Do any of us see Alllen or Lavar as players who were truely great and dominated like a true multiple Pro Bowler?

The last 2 seasons he has been a non-factor and not even good. I understand leadership is important but at some point the big talkers need to produce on the field for their voice to carry any weight, There are plenty of players who can take up that leadership role.

Green Bay is probably the best fit for Allen. They need veteran leadership in that locker room bad (youngest team in the league) and my Packer fan friend tells me they have needs on the DL. They also pick pretty late in each round so might be willing to give up like a 4th.
