Right now the new stadium could be anything. Here are some features I think the Commanders should include:

1. A retractable dome so that it can be open when it's nice and so we can also get a Super Bowl, NCAA tourney, Wrestlemania and all the other moneymakers.

2. Part of the lower level seats should be able to shake if the crowd gets rowdy like the old RFK seats did.

3. A video board similar to the Oculus at Sofi Stadium.

4. Statues at entrances to the north (Joe Gibbs), south (the Hogs), east (the Fun Bunch) and west (empty plinth reserved for JD5) entrances.

What are your ideas?

The old RFK urinal. If you know, you know. J/k

I'd like a retractable roof too. But I think it'll be closed. Maybe some sides can open and lots of glass? I don't know.

Not exactly the stadium. But the Stadium/Armory stop needs to be 10x'd on size and accessibility.

Attached or directly around it, build out a reason for people who aren't the few with parking passes to come down early. Green spaces to handout, buy food, hang out with fellow fans.

I like your thoughts on video boards.

A Redskins /Commanders HOF is part of the facility.

Walking to the entrance should be statues of Redskins legends.

Someone called into the local radio station and said something about there might be an issue with the retractable roof due to height restriction. I haven't looked it up but maybe one of you can dig into that as well. :)

There is an exception for “domes.”

Real grass field. For the players and if the roof can let natural light in that should be doable.

For the game day experience:
  • regular ferry service from points like National Harbor, Georgetown, the Wharf, and Old Town to a new harbor near the stadium. At the harbor, allow people to have party boats
  • entertainment district outside the Stadium/Armory metro stop - I want it to be a wide pedestrian street (like the Wharf) packed with bars and restaurants leading to the stadium adorned with burgundy and gold. Imagine the energy before a big rivalry or playoff game as you walk the .5 miles to the stadium.
  • connect the street car from Union Station/H Street corridor down to the Stadium/Armory stop to make H Street another popular pregame destination and provide additional public transportation options for people taking the metro/MARC trains into the city.

For the actual stadium:
  • build the stands up and not out. The nosebleeds suck ass when you can watch the game on TV instead
  • they apparently have the ability to recreate the bouncing stands from RFK - that is an absolute must for this new stadium
  • a glass roof to let in natural light/openings on the side to let fresh air in. We need to take lessons learned from the Dallas stadium and do sunlight studies to make sure we aren't creating blind spots on the field. The technology is there to prevent that from happening
  • my main gripe with Nationals Park is that they ruined what could have been a great downtown stadium by removing sightlines of the Capitol building and Washington Monument. It isn't a requirement, but it would be a nice to have if one of the endzones faced the Capitol Building and you could see the outline out a nice glass window over top of the crowd
