I haven't seen one, so I making a new one. I've played way too many games to talk about since we lost ES and I'm not familiar with attachments and whatnot on this forum, so this is more of a test run.
Anyways, here are the more recent games I've been enjoying:
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
This game is amazing, absolutely amazing. The game alone is great, but if you're an Indiana Jones fan, that will put this game over the top. They captured Harrison Ford's likeness perfectly, they captured Indiana Jones perfectly. The voice acting, his face, the sounds of your whip, punching people, sounds spot on. This isn't an action game, its a stealth game first, with mild, immersive sim characteristics in a sandbox setting. You actually have to solve mysteries and puzzles, you really do feel like Indy.
There are some downsides, there are some clipping issues with some items and there are some enemy AI..."questions" at times, but I enjoy the stealth. There is some shooting, but the majority of the fighting (so far) is fisticuffs, random items you can pick up and your whip. Nothing is more fun than yanking a nazi off a platform and watching him ragdoll to his death. I have countless captures of it, its glorious. Go play this game!
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
This game...this game is not my usual kind of play, but it caught my interest. It was sold to me as an FPS/open world/survival/immersive sim, its about half of those things. I didn't play the first game, so I don't know what the story is, but in this game you play as a "stalker". Basically, you're scavenger/looter and you get stuck inside of a zone that has mutants, raiders and God knows what else. You have to feed yourself, but food is plenty, you have to watch your radiation levels, but anti-radiation means are plenty, etc so survival is easy. The hardest thing you'll have to manage is your inventory, which I like doing.
This game is weird, I die in it all the time and its got some jank to it, European jank. However, this game has a steep learning curve and it keeps sucking me back in against my better judgement. If I had to describe this game with one word, it would be "frustrating". There is a diamond in the rough here, it just needs a bit of polish. This game was developed in Ukraine, so I'm will to give them some slack seeing the circumstances. This is worth a try on Game Pass, but I wouldn't buy it just yet unless you're a fan of the series and know what you're getting into.
Sniper Elite: Resistance
Put it in my veins! I love this game, it's so much fun! I love the big, scrawling, open levels where you get to sneak around knocking people out, sniping them, knifing them, blowing them up. There are so many ways to kill nazis in this game that you will never get bored of it. I've played some of the previous Sniper Elite games, they never really gripped me, this one did. Of course, there is the always fun slow motion, bullet hitting flesh and exploding organs camera. Just watch a review.
I have more takes, but I don't feel like it right now...so...
The Videogame Thread
If they had just made this as a spinoff and said "We're still making a REAL Dragon Age", I think it would've been perceived better. Also, I hate to admit it, but some of that "woke stuff" was pretty cringe. I don't have a problem with the material, but the writing was awful.Warhead36 wrote: Tue Feb 04, 2025 1:40 pmBeat Dragon Age Veilguard the other game. Wasn't a bad game, and the final quest(s) and ending are actually really good. But it felt Dragon Age in surface only and didn't have that same "soul" I guess as the previous three. I enjoyed playing it but don't see myself ever replaying it.

Five years ago, I would never go digital. Now, I'm all about it. You get instant gaming and the sales are great, I worry of the future though. Microsoft has been great about it preserving the rights of gamers and their games, but nothing is forcing them to do so. If I were a Nintendo or Sony console owner, I wouldn't be happy with how things are headed. The Evil Genius wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 9:45 amI know physical media is dieing but not seeing new AAA titles at launch in stores is troubling.
It's getting harder and harder to justify not going digital.
I just mean downloading games over buying a physical copy, I would never do that back in the day. If I couldn't literally get my hands on a copy, I wouldn't buy it at all. Last physical game I bought was Elden Ring and thats because it was cheaper as a physical copy.
