We had some games with slow starts but I don't remember being super ineffective in the 1st quarter.

My bigger area of concern is 1st down offense. We had way too many 2nd and 9s and 2nd and 11s. My hope is we improve on first down enough so that we aren't as reliant on 4th downs.

I'm thinking that a fair amount of this may have to do with how mediocre-at-best our running game was outside of JD.

Yep for sure. That's why I wanted to upgrade at RB. B Rob is mid. He started off well actually but faded late. Ekeler is still our best back but at this stage in his career maybe only has like 5-7 good touches a game. I'd like to see more from C Rod, he showed some real good power and toughness on runs.

We just need a RB that can net us 3-4 yards consistently on 1st down. Imagine how much better this offense will be when we get 2nd and 7 or 6 instead of 2nd and 9-11.

Best QB in last season’s playoffs by far.

Yeah what isn't talked about enough is how well he actually played in the NFC Title game. The fumbles and the defense's inability to get stops is what cost him.

He's a legitimate top 5 QB right now and I think this time next year will be in the discussion for best in the league.
