Appreciate the work SIP. We all have no idea what GMAP is going to do on draft day. After QB last year, none of us thought Newton would be the pick. He certainly has a plan when it comes to the draft.

RB Kaleb Johnson, Iowa

Johnson didn’t quite have the athletic showing at the NFL Scouting Combine some expected, but his name still sneakily carries first-round potential simply because his tape at Iowa shows that there aren't many running backs with his combination of size and speed.

Johnson’s height (6-foot-1), weight (224 pounds), wingspan (78 1/2 inches) and hand size (9 5/8 inches) were all above the 78th percentile for the position. His 4.57-second 40-yard dash placed him in just the 46th percentile, but weight-adjusting that score makes it just fine. Still, some were expecting more, and because of that, his stock seemed to cool.

But make no mistake, this is a big, explosive back who, behind a zone-heavy blocking scheme, could be a 1,000-yard back early in his rookie contract. Teams such as the Broncos and Steelers (teams that ran a heavy amount of zone in 2024) could at least consider him on Day 1. The Commanders, who deploy more of an even split between zone and man/gap run blocking, are also an intriguing landing spot.

If I had to rank these guys right now. This is among the ones I've watched

Tier 1
1. Jeanty
2. Hampton

Tier 2
3. Henderson (purely because of the fit here not because he's my preferred RB in a vaccum)
4. Kaleb Johnson
5. Skattebo
6. Judkins.

Tier 3
7. Giddens
8. RJ Harvey
9. D. Martinez
10. Tuten
11. Sampson

(those 7 to 11, my mind can change on a dime, they are so close to me)

Tier 4
12. Croskey-Merritt
13. D. Neal
13. J. Hunter
14. B. Smith
15. Monangai
16. Etienne
17. Jordan James
18. Jaydon Blue

All of these are close to me, all different flavors.

Insider Notes on Maryland Pro Day
#1. Tai Felton

I’m told 30 teams were on hand for Maryland’s pro day, and the program’s top prospect, receiver Tai Felton, looked terrific based on everybody I spoke with.

The Day 2 prospect stood on his combine numbers, which included 4.37 seconds in the 40, a vertical jump of 39.5 inches, and 10-foot-10 in the broad jump after measuring just over 6-foot-1 and 183 pounds.

Felton was outstanding in position drills, catching the ball well, and he was both fast as well as sudden.

Despite not getting a lot of talk outside the scouting community, teams feel Felton is assured of being a Day 2 pick.

He comes off of a career season after catching 98 passes for 1124 yards and nine TDs. Seven receivers coaches were on hand for the workout, and over the past two days, Felton met with the Saints, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, and Washington Commanders.

Whew, glad this site didn't go down like ES did all of a sudden. Seems like edge is going to be the pick, but according to espn, there are going to be a ton of surprises in round 1. Less than two weeks away! Can't wait for draft day.

The team is definitely doing their due diligence to look at a lot of day 2 and 3 players from all positions. Even a bunch of expected UDFAs. Gives me confidence in this front office that I have not had in some time!

While Edge does feel like the biggest want/need, they could really go in many directions.

Yeah, last year was intriguing more for the day 2 picks since we had no idea whom we'd target. This year, I have no idea who the pick will be. Nice change from the Ron years where we knew what positions were going to be picked.

I think I've settled on DJ Giddens and Skattebo as my third round RB draft crushes. Skattebo has gotten enough play here as to why.

Giddens IMO is somewhat underrated in this class. IMO he's up there with Kaleb and Judkins as prospects.

He has one of the best % of explosive runs in this class. He killed the combine as to showcasing his athleticism. He's a fun watch, stop and go abiity, elusive and fast.

I have Giddens and Harvey as virtual equals and either in the third would be nice additions. I love that Giddens doesn't fumble.
Do you think Skattebo will reach the third round? I have my doubts he reached 61.
