Lattimore…
Thinking about it and...I'm going to give him a pass.
Until we see him fully healthy and fully knowing the playbook/this style of defense, I'm going to give him a pass.
2 things -
1) I don't know what took the coaches so long giving him help and/or double teaming Evans. Like...that should have been the gameplan all along. He's new, he's been injured....help the dude out!
2) He is one of our best tacklers on defense and definitely the best among the corners.

I loved this trade when it happened. Now it can only be described as a disappointment to date. I understand this was for the future 2 seasons as well but this season he has given them close to nothing and that was not what I expected, In his 2 matchups with top receivers he clearly lost both battles, With his injury history I don't know how he can be counted on moving forward.
This does not mean I regret the trade, Just saying what is obvious to me.

He was injured when we traded for him, so this was always going to be something of a lost year for him. I still think it's realistic to expect him to be a really strong player next year. Having him on the roster definitely wouldn't stop me from hunting high end DB talent in this draft class though. This is a good DB draft class, particularly in the late first round and second round range. If you're willing to invest in blue chippers like the Eagles did, you can turn a secondary around quickly. I see Lattimore as being a pretty big part of a potential championship caliber secondary next season.
But I'm not expecting a whole lot from him against Detroit. Looked to me like he was running fine against TB, but doing a whole lot of reacting and guessing. He's way behind while everyone else is in playoff form.

Up until recently my plan was Lattimore was the stud, bring in a solid CB2, move Sanristill to slot and retain Iggy. Now I'm not so sure about this plan with Lattimore's injury history.Warhead36 wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2025 10:27 am Pair Lattimore with a stud outside CB and move Sarinstil to the slot. That could be a hell of a secondary, especially if we can bring Chinn back and Martin continues to develop.
Probably go back to playing a lot more zone, which is what I think we did in the 2nd half last week.HTTR wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 1:40 pm Do you think they will try to have Lattimore follow Amon Ra around or maybe double him like they did AJ Brown in second half? Amon Ra and AJ Brown are both great players but diff skill sets.
DQ and Whitt prefer man but right now the personnel just doesn't allow for it, both on the back end and the lack of edge pass rush.
