I dont think Id take it that far. But Id love to have Loveland
I don't think Loveland will make it to our pick anyways. Macshay said he heard rumors are that Warren will go "very high" and that Loveland will go soon thereafter. In a draft with not a ton of great pass catchers, these guys will go high. Like, no way do the Bolts pass on Loveland if he's somehow still there when they pick.
Right now, my favorite pick might be Hampton tbh. With where we are picking, I figure most of the OTs will be long gone (including Simmons), and we'd be looking at either a gamble on an edge (which would be ok) or taking a RB with some actual juice. I wouldn't be oppose to taking RB2 (in terms of the draft where Jeanty will be long gone) considering where we are at.

I wouldn't draft Hampton in the first if Skattebo is going at the end of the third. That is crazy good value. So is Harold Fannin Jr in that range.
Draftniks don't like great players who don't look the part, and that bias comes from NFL FO people. It's a very persistent bias. Then someone like Aaron Donald or Derek Henry comes along and changes what the part looks like. We've all been guilty of it before with non prototypical players. But sometimes you just have to accept what your eyes are showing you when an oddball player is dominating the sport.
Fannin Jr and Skattebo were top ten players regardless of position last year. The special creativity and individual brilliance/play making ability is so next level with them, that it's a safer bet to expect it to translate to the NFL than to think it won't. Getting them in the third is "steal of the draft territory" for me, and the value is so good that I structure my mock draft strategy around them. Look at this crazy mock where I traded down repeatedly, took Dallas and Green Bay's whole day two for 2026, and still got four guys who could start for us in 2025:

It all depends on FA GC. I was all in on getting a young LT at 29, but the pickings are going to be pretty slim at that spot unless Josh Simmons falls due to his injury concerns. I wasn't initially a huge Stanley fan for signing in FA, but I kind of am now. Plus, Stanley would not have to move out of the area per se, so maybe that makes us more attractive to him? He'd allow Coleman to go inside and a temporary Cosmi replacement until Sam is fully rehabbed. Or perhaps Chris Paul showed enough in that playoff game to consider getting a try? Paul is strong is strong as an ox, but he's got subpar movement skills. Coleman would win that job most likely and is a younger player signed for three more years.
We do have a relatively early 3rd (via Miami that was obtained in the Dotson trade). Skattebo will be there for sure. I really like Hampton to be fair, but getting Bo won't be a bad consolation prize. Truth is that B-Rob has no juice in his legs. Even at 100%, he gets caught far too often. Like in the first giants game this past season, any good RB takes that break away to the house, and he got caught from behind. I'd look to trade B-Rob if I could and give the power opportunities to C-Rod instead. We wouldn't get much for B-Rob (like moving up from one of our 7ths for a team's 6th), but I'd probably trade him if I could. He's just a plodder at this stage of his career.
What do you think about Gasden vs Fanin GC? Gasden has the bloodlines and is a converted WR, but you know he's been coached well through his upbringing. Also, I kind of think Luke Lachay is being underrated. Iowa TEs always produce, and I know he's had injury issues, but their offense stunk this past year, so I don't hold that against him.

Ive talked some about Skattebo recently. Even though he isnt fast. He brings other key things to the table where as I mentioned it wouldnt surprise me if hes on this team’s radar for reasons Ive mentioned.
I am not so convinced he’s slam dunk going to be there in the third. PFF has him as their third ranked RB. I think its possible he’s there in the third. But i am more convinced if we are just going to sit and wait until the third we could more count on dudes like RJ Harvey, Giddens, Neal to be there than Skattebo.
Skattebo feels like a wild card who can go anywhere from the mid 2nd to the 4th. That is though precombine.

First 3 rounds for DT might be as insane as the RB spot

None of that would surprise me he looks like a freak. If he has a combine like that though he might not last to 29

One of my favorite plays of the season. I can't believe he won that edge against two unblocked and unfooled defenders with the angle on him. That's the kind of play you normally only see in the highlights of a stud running back recruit playing for like an AA high school.
Skattebo reminds me of Ekeler. His vision and creativity are the best in the class and he's got fantastic balance and acceleration. That ability to gear up as his crease comes open is how he rips off so many chunk runs despite not being a Devon Achane or Saquon Barkley. He's going to be a beast for an outside zone run game.

Yeah. I think there will be a huge run on RBs in Round 2. Like, if Dallas doesn't take Jeanty with their first rounder, it is the lock of the century that they go RB in round 2. Ditto teams like Cleveland, New England, Raiders, Saints, Bears, Bengals (especially), Denver, Pittsburgh, etc. There's going to be a huge run on RBs in round 2.
