That’s very disappointing and the first real mistake by this ownership group. Can’t believe they are ok with that terrible name. Only thing that could save them now is to incorporate our old logo on as much as possible and lose the bland, and boring stencilled W. otherwise, I’ll have to take extra care of my Redskins gear, as I cannot bring myself to buy anything with Commanders or that ugly Dubya. Sad news indeed.
Just curious, how old are you?
What does my age have to do with anything? I’m 60 years old and been a lifelong fan. Curious why you ask? Sad that we went from having the best logo in all of sports to the absolute worst. As I know a lot of diehard fans are also disappointed at this news. I understood the name was going, with the way the world is heading, but there’s absolutely no reason to discard the logo. This name was chosen in all likelihood because it was the least expensive option for Danny boy, and it showed in the lame rollout, bland logo, and generic name. Opportunity missed by new ownership group in my opinion.
I’m curious because I’m willing to bet the majority of fans that share your exact sentiments are probably older. 45 and up.
I see this as a pure business decision. The kids today just saw the best season in 20 plus years. That means fans aged 5-30 probably don’t care about the name as long as they’re winning. Those fans don’t see Redskins and Winning synonymously the way you or I might. And I barely did as a 43 year old. My youngest memory was the 91 season and it’s foggy at best.
These young fans are the fans that will be buying merchandise and season tickets moving forward and for decades.
If the team still stunk and everyone hated commanders, Josh Harris might think twice. But the whole league was buzzing about this turnaround and the fortunes that await this Franchise. The NFL is a business after all.

You are right, and I was getting some concern this might happen the further we went into the playoffs. Still think that an exciting logo and better name would excite both young and old over a very blah W. Can’t see kids getting excited about that… oh well, it is what it is, but I was hoping that we would wash every last bit of Snyder away with a new branding.

Unfortunately the Snyder stain will remain, that’s for sure. We’re just lucky it’s a name and not the way the team is run.
I think that everyone aged 9-99 will be excited to get better looking uniforms and logos. At the very least we can get Tanya Snyders trash uniforms retired forever.

Meh, the name doesn’t make the team. The team makes the name. And the team is making a name for themselves!

I'm with most of you. Yet another name change would be exhausting, their time and money would be better spent elsewhere. They could survey 10 people and get 9 different responses to a different name, all of this could result in a minor bump in approval. As they win under this name I too am finding myself more attached to the name that way than Daniel Snyder.

Still mad that fake poll Dan Snyder set up. He was so sure the fans would pick Commanders. When they didn’t he picked Commanders himself. Such a tool.

The poll was a pr ruse. Think he had the name in mind, even before he dumped the Redskins name.
Despite his public statements of never changing the name; he knew he would have to change the name at some point. So, he picked the Commanders.

The Redskins sucked for an entire generation. An entire generation grew up being mocked for being a fan of this team. "Deadskins" etc.
Now you have a new generation that sees the COMMANDERS as winners. The COMMANDERS have Jayden Daniels. The COMMANDERS went to an NFC Title game. etc.
Its a new era now. Embrace it or get out. That's the message Josh Harris is delivering.

A chunk of fans will never support a name that isn't Redskins. Changing from Commanders doesn't matter because it will always be Redskins for them.
A chunk are fine with Commanders and just want to move on.I don't think many "Love" the name.
And I think the opportunity to grow the brand, even in a non-preferred name is a better option than becoming the RedWolves or whatever.
Just update the uniforms to something closer to the Redskins look. Wear a throwback spear every once and awhile when playing the Cowboys and most will move on and it'll be fine.
