Sad news- Name is staying.

Josh has stated, the name is staying. Disappointing!

I’m assuming the old logo will be for merch before 2020. Ie, classic players’ jerseys will have the classic logo.

I also see the old logo come out, when they are playing a game with classic uniforms.

Was surprised this week when I heard Kevin Sheehan saying he was convinced a name change was coming. It seemed obvious to me they were setting the stage for not doing it.

Once they got the team the statements were along the lines of "we're not sure fans really want a change anymore" etc. and then there was nothing about it

Don't know if they just didn't want to spend the money, if they just don't care. or if they are that out of tune with what the fans want. But I have assumed for a while we were stuck with tis idiotic name.

I will continue to call them the Commodores, because I think that name would be beyond awful and I still think it's better than Commanders.

It makes sense. Another name change would just be exhausting, and coming off a 12 win season and NFC Title game appearance has allowed fans to rally around the Commander name.

There will be a jersey and logo rebrand though, which is great news. I can live with the Commie name but the current logo is boring af and the jerseys suck (red isn't bad but white is bad and black is trash).

Of all the thing this team needs to spend money on, a rebrand is the last thing. Jayden Daniels has the numbers one selling jersey of every major US sport. I see commanders gear all over the place. I bought gear for my kids and myself for this first time since I started boycotting Dan Snyder around 2015 or so.

This franchise had been run into the ground. I’d much rather continue spending resources on facilities, free agents, new stadium, state of the art Virtual Reality training and so and and so forth.

I liked the original name. I never cared for popular replacement suggestions, like red wolves. I'm neutral on Commanders but am increasingly more comfortable with it as time goes on.

That’s very disappointing and the first real mistake by this ownership group. Can’t believe they are ok with that terrible name. Only thing that could save them now is to incorporate our old logo on as much as possible and lose the bland, and boring stencilled W. otherwise, I’ll have to take extra care of my Redskins gear, as I cannot bring myself to buy anything with Commanders or that ugly Dubya. Sad news indeed.

I'm fine with the Commanders. Harris is putting his money into more important things like Stadium renovations, new stadium, hiring quality coaches. If the winning continues, another name change makes no sense. HTTC

What does my age have to do with anything? I’m 60 years old and been a lifelong fan. Curious why you ask? Sad that we went from having the best logo in all of sports to the absolute worst. As I know a lot of diehard fans are also disappointed at this news. I understood the name was going, with the way the world is heading, but there’s absolutely no reason to discard the logo. This name was chosen in all likelihood because it was the least expensive option for Danny boy, and it showed in the lame rollout, bland logo, and generic name. Opportunity missed by new ownership group in my opinion.
