Dallas has been playing ok under Cooper Rush. While eliminated the Boys are 7-8. McCarthy likely has done enough to earn a new contract.
That would be awesome. Sign me up for more years of Mike McCarthy in Dallas.
What happens if Mike doesn’t want to come back? What will Jerry do?

PFT talks about potential vacancies.

For now, though, a distinct vibe has emerged. Some owners might not fill out the pink slip when the time comes.
Teams are beginning to realize that the revolving door doesn’t lead anywhere. That constant change leads to constant turmoil. That patience is a virtue, not a sign of ineptitude.
With that said, here’s what I’ve picked up over the past few days about the hot spots, beyond the three teams (Jets, Saints, Bears) where the hammer has fallen.<<<<

Jets -
Bears-
Saints-
Pats-
Jags-
Raiders-
Raiders fired Antonio Pierce.
Bears probably the best job opening and Saints with 70 million in the hole, the worst job opening.

>>>>>Though “Black Monday” has evolved into something that’s more of a battleship gray – Doug Pederson, formerly of the Jaguars, was the only NFL head coach fired the day after the 2024 regular season concluded – there are nevertheless (currently) a half-dozen vacancies across a league that remains in constant flux but has simply moved away from 24 hours of mass professional carnage.<<<<<<

Now that the Raiders have cleaned house, they will try luring Bellichek and Vabrel. Certainly Tom’s top 2 suggestions and supposedly already asked Bill, if he was interested.
Bill B. Has his buyout drop to $1 million after 6/1. Raiders will certainly give him the power now but would Bill turns his back on UNC after just accepting the job? If that happened, I doubt anyone good would want to go to UNC. I can’t see Bill bailing on UNC after just agreeing to take the job. The buyout dropping to $1 million is for 2026; in case his first year is a disaster or he finds college football isn’t for him.
Mike V. had problems with his gms at the Titans; so this would appealing to him, where he can pick the gm.
One other scenario is that this clears the way for Deon to be head coach and the Raiders trading up; to draft his son.

Besides what Jerry decides with McCarthy; the only other potential openings would be a from a playoff loser this weekend.
What coach could get the ax, if they lose this weekend?
Buccaneers- Todd Bowles could be gone if he loses to us. Bucs have barely made playoffs last 3 years. Owners might decide, it’s time to move on.
Eagles- Nick Sirianni. They expect at least a championship game appearance and if that doesn’t happen, change is happening.
Bills- Sean Mcdemott. An upset by the Broncos might cause Pelugulas to make a change, thinking Sean can’t get them over the hump.
Now this potential opening wouldn’t be a firing since he got an extension.
Steelers- Mike Tomlin. If they lose to Ravens, the Rooneys might consider trade requests. Steelers have not won a playoff game in 8 years. They mght decide Mike and the Steelers both need a fresh start; so they are willing to trade him.
