According to Albert Breer, the Commanders are in the mix for Ronnie Stanley.

Interesting, initially I didn't want him, but after Cosmi's injury, he makes a ton of sense as a Andrew Whitworth type signing (older tackle signed as a solid stopgap for 3-4 years). He'd allow Coleman to shift to RG to hold the fort until Sam comes back. I figure NE would be our main competition along with Baltimore. Maybe our proximity to Baltimore gives us an advantage?

I think the fact that we're already potential contenders is also a big advantage. The Pats have their QB, but they're very early in the rebuilding phase, and will likely be so-so for the next couple of years. We just went to the NFCCG, so we can make the case that coming here and being a piece of the immediate upgrade puzzle could lead to a ring.

For Hendrickson it would depend on the price. He has a pretty big contract and we'd probably have to take that and then likely negotiate a new one with him. Given that, we might be able to get him for a 2nd round pick or 2nd plus a bit more. If that's the price, then I'm all for it. An All-Pro pass rushing DE is far more likely to make a huge impact on our team than whatever guy we pick in the 2nd round.

And as far as the cap...screw it. We have JD on a rookie deal for 3 more years. Why not spend some of the money we have now on guys who will be able to help instantly before we have to pay JD the biggest contract in the NFL?
I would not be opposed to it, the window is open and the clock is ticking. But to me this roster is not deep enough to make any more splash moves. They just need more good football players across the roster so I"d like to see the resources spread out a bit more. Fill out a more complete roster and then next year make your move.
I don't really see why we can't make a couple of big moves while also getting a few quality role players to fill out the roster. We got to the NFCCG with what we had last year, so a couple of big signings in key areas (pass catching and pass rush in this case) could potentially make a major difference.

Realistically, we have 2 years left before having to sign JD to a mega-contract (his contract is through 2027, but successful rookie QBs are almost always signed after their 3rd year). So why not load up on some talent for a couple years before having to devote a fair amount of our cap space to JD in the hope that we can win a SB during this window?
I would not opposed to another big move or 2. What stood out to me is this team has very few A level players. Like maybe 2, or 3 if you count Luvu or Lattimore. So I get the need for impact players, I just see a very thin roster with a need to upgrade virtually every position group. I was thinking more players in the Chinn to Luvu level. Just fill the roster with more damned good football players rather than a few big moves and use the draft capital saved to buid through the draft and find your impact players there.

But if they were to sign Stanley and get Hendrickson for a 2nd I would not hate it.

Love to get Slayton- It would give us a great receiver room.
