Yeah, thought the immigration policy under Biden (at least until the last year) was terrible, and there's nothing wrong with eliminating waste in government.
I just wonder if, where the deferred resignations and RIFs are concerned, they couldn't have just maintained a hiring freeze and let the normal 200k/year attrition take place naturally. Paying people up to seven months of salary to do nothing doesn't seem productive.
It's also not legal or even actually promised. We don't have funding past mid March (and a shutdown is likely with these incompetent MAGA buffon running Congress). Additionally, what is administrative leave capped at? 5 days max? So anything beyond that would be illegal.
I have serious questions about anyone who accepted this resignation racket.
Musk is the one making the real decisions, Trump is more of a puppet.
More like Trump is turning him lose on stuff he doesn't care about like Bush did with Cheney.
Musk seems more focused on our budget then foreign policy right now.
Cheney was, at the very least, an elected official. He was an evil POS but he was the VP. Elon is a foreign agent without proper clearance AND without the right to access all the info his goober squad has accessed. People should be more concerned but they won't be until it's too late.
To clear what you are saying is true, but what you are quoting is in response to having essentially two Musk threads.
He's a huge factor right now, but he's not the President...I don't like playing around with the idea of who's actually president when like you said one was elected the other was not.
OT, I don't watch TV news much if ever a ymorez they showing these protest because they are all over Reddit:

According to my former comrades, Air Traffic Controllers who are all over retirement age, they would have gotten 8 months of paid leave then been able to retire. But then it was rescinded for ATC. Had I been eligible and not retired last year, I would have jumped all over that.

The government isn't funded past March 14th. Good luck to anyone getting those months of administrative leave time paid when it shuts down. At least currently working employees would get back pay (historically) if a shutdown happens.
Additionally, this doesn't even touch the topic of administrative leave only being allowed for 10 days per year. So how exactly can someone get paid for 8 months of it?
The sad reality is, I fully expect these people who took the Elonald offer either to not get paid, or to be forced to work for 8 months anyways and then be terminated.
Also, what impact does it have to retirement and benefits? Does that person lose health care during the 8 months? Or afterwards?

They don’t care, unless Elon’s moves negatively affect them personally.
Ie you have relative killed in a plan crash, due to shortages at the FAA.
Your Social Security, Disability or Veterans Benefits is reduced or eliminated. Your Medicaid is reduced or eliminated.

I would have to ask to be certain, but the way the Air Traffic union explained it, you got paid for 8 months and then (if you were retirement eligible) you got to punch. If you weren't retirement eligible, you got paid for 8 months, in which time you could start another job, and then that was it. You were out.

Head of Social Security and head of GSA are both resigning in opposition to the looseness in operations of various undecided doge people getting access to certain particularly sensitive data.
Most everyone knows there's waste and corruption in all levels of government, not just federal, and it's certainly been a condition obviously endemic in human behavior whatever political label they give themselves throughout history in every culture.
But the bigger the institution, obviously, the bigger the problem. The military, numerous federal agencies, and our large population/ large economy states have the biggest problems.
Intelligent bipartisan aggressive and competent addressing of these matters is something a vast majority support no matter how they label themselves politically.
The proof will be in the pudding and anything is possible including some good things coming out of all this mess and these mounting missteps, and the highly suspect, or proven, crooked and corrupt character of trump and most of his admin.
But it's simultaneously sad, disgusting, and darkly humorous, to watch so many people rah-rahing the fact that a horribly crooked and sleezy creep show like trump is leading this "charge against waste and corruption" with their complete support and unquestioning belief that the effort will be free of corruption itself, or free of numerous forms of bigotry, unfairness, and actually done competently.
