Yeah, thought the immigration policy under Biden (at least until the last year) was terrible, and there's nothing wrong with eliminating waste in government.Sarge wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 7:15 pmA lot of TDS in here but hey, let's keep railing about the administration finding hundreds of millions of dollars that were being pissed away and the deportation of thousands of criminal illegals.
I just wonder if, where the deferred resignations and RIFs are concerned, they couldn't have just maintained a hiring freeze and let the normal 200k/year attrition take place naturally. Paying people up to seven months of salary to do nothing doesn't seem productive.
Trump begins firings of FAA staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash
The Trump administration has begun firing several hundred Federal Aviation Administration employees, upending staff on a busy air travel weekend and just weeks after a January fatal midair collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Probationary workers were targeted in late-night emails Friday notifying them they had been fired, David Spero, president of the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists union, said in a statement.
The impacted workers include personnel hired for FAA radar, landing and navigational aid maintenance, one air traffic controller told The Associated Press. The air traffic controller was not authorized to talk to the media and spoke on condition of anonymity.
In a message posted to X late Monday, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said fewer than 400 FAA employees were fired and “Zero air traffic controllers and critical safety personnel were let go.”
A Transportation Department official told the AP earlier Monday that the agency has “retained employees who perform critical safety functions.” In a follow-up query the agency said they would have to look into whether the radar, landing and navigational aid workers affected were considered to handle critical safety functions.

Andy McCarthy Torches Trump for Weaponizing DOJ in Stunning Column: DOJ’s ‘Core Mission’ is Now to ‘Settle the President’s Scores’
Andy McCarthy — a conservative legal analyst who serves as a Fox News contributor — denounced President Donald Trump and his new Attorney General Pam Bondi for weaponizing the Department of Justice.
In a scathing column for the right-leaning National Review on Sunday, McCarthy denounced the “Weaponization Working Group” established by Bondi. McCarthy believes that group practices the very weaponization it is supposedly trying to root out.
McCarthy argued President Joe Biden’s DOJ was politicized — but that Trump also engaged in “serious misconduct.”
“It does not follow that, because the previous Justice Department was politicized, all of the people it targeted were pure as the driven snow,” McCarthy wrote. “Trump engaged in serious misconduct, regardless of whether it was actionable misconduct.”
Of Bondi, McCarthy wrote, “If she is just going to spout Trump’s grievances without putting the Justice Department’s response to egregious behavior in context, then she’s engaging in partisan law enforcement, exactly the noxious practice she claims to be rooting out.”
The conservative legal analyst added, “The weaponization directive is doing politics, not removing politics from law enforcement. Plainly, the ‘Weaponization Working Group’ exists to settle the president’s scores and rewrite dark chapters of his history — while providing him with quarterly assurances of Attorney General Bondi’s progress on what is now the Justice Department’s core mission.”

That Axis is so OP there may not be a WW3.88Commanders00 wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 12:27 pmWe are part of the axis of evil. When WW3 starts, the non axis countries will have to unite to defeat us.The Evil Genius wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 5:42 pmIt's only taken 3 weeks for the US to become a pariah of the world. This won't end well.SWIM wrote: Sat Feb 15, 2025 9:35 pmIt’s super depressing how one man without even a fundamental understanding of history can upend 70 years of world order in 2-3 days.
Long as NATO and India arent attacked directly, it would be the big three picking off the countries and territories they want, like North America, Eastern Europe, Taiwan and South China sea.
Navigating those two powers leaves little resistance at all...they aren't carving up the world 1984 style, seems like their immediate territorial goals have either been established for a while or new and fairly limited in our case by comparison.
US makes up 40% of military spending in the world and more then the next 10 countries combined. Whatever side US picks in a World War should be favored to win, and that's been the history of the first two.

Cheney was, at the very least, an elected official. He was an evil POS but he was the VP. Elon is a foreign agent without proper clearance AND without the right to access all the info his goober squad has accessed. People should be more concerned but they won't be until it's too late.Renegade7 wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 1:36 amMore like Trump is turning him lose on stuff he doesn't care about like Bush did with Cheney.88Commanders00 wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 11:47 pmMusk is the one making the real decisions, Trump is more of a puppet.
Musk seems more focused on our budget then foreign policy right now.
