They need to put a plan in place now on who will succeed Kliff.
I think they need to put a plan in place now on who will succeed Kliff. :)

Actually, I seem to remember DQ addressing this earlier in the season. I don't remember his exact words but it was something along the line of having strong assistants in place that can be promoted if someone leaves.

I do say that this staff is probably the best we've had since Gibbs 1.0
I feel like our pipeline is getting pilfered - we may have a skeleton crew of assistants to the OC after this offseason
That's life in the NFL when you're successful. Just remember, we don't have the only quality coaches football. I trust AP and DQ to find quality replacements when one leaves. Especially assistant caches. OC's and DC's are a little harder because systems usually change with new coordinators. The good thing is we have good people in charge of the team and I trust their judgement.

I didn't want to lose KK for continuity. But I'm pretty convinced his stock is high now because his QB is Jayden Daniels and any competent OC could get similar production when you have a player like that. I mean it's not like he is scheming guys wide open like we see out of San Francisco, Detroit or KC. If Sam Howell or MM were the QB here KK's reputation is not the same IMO.

The thread in around the league is about tracking coaching changes in other teams and this one is titled both as a "considered coaching changes" topic and a kingnsbury-specific topic.

This is about another (now former) member of Commanders staff moving on so I'll put it here for now. Maybe this thread could be retitled a bit? 🙂

Commanders deny permission for others to interview rising young assistant

In related news: The #Commanders blocked assistant QBs coach David Blough from interviewing for the #Jets job. He’s staying in Washington.

Blough is extremely well regarded and gives major Sean McVay vibes. My guess is DQ is grooming him to be the next OC if Kliff leaves.

It would be about time this franchise holds on to a homegrown and blossoming coach for once. We just saw another past coordinator pull NFL COTY in O'Connell (still think Quinn was snubbed but yes, it's a regular season award and all that).
