This has to be one of the worst FA signings ever in any sport. This is year 6 of 7 at $35M per year...

Oft-injured Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon is having hip surgery and is expected to miss a significant amount of time, general manager Perry Minasian said Wednesday.

After signing a seven-year, $245 million contract and debuting with the Angels during the pandemic-abbreviated 2020 season, Rendon, 34, has not played more than 58 games in any season. He had a 1.010 OPS with 34 home runs and a major-league-leading 126 RBIs in 2019, but his OPS over five years with the Angels is just .717.

He has played in only 205 games and missed 438 since the start of the 2021 season.

Disappointing off-season, and the farm has been drained of most of the top talent except maybe some relievers. Hopefully this last class flashes early in the minors, at least we've got the #1 overall pick.

That said, I think the team will be scrappier. We're not winning 80. But 75 seems achievable.

Fangraphs updated their Top 100 list. Unsurprisingly Brady House fell off the list, Sykora jumped on. But Susana came it at a whopping 19! Mentions he's got an 80 grade pitch. He could be an ace.

Bobby Barrels w/ a double in the top of the 9th & 2 outs to clear the bases to give the Nats a 6-3 lead. He's 1-3 on the day.
Looks like the Nats vs. NYM tomorrow at 1:05 on MASN.

Edit: I forgot to add: Brady House had an 8-pitch walk to load the bases before the double...and the video

Anybody know what's going on with Woods? He's listed as 'day-to-day' but I haven't been able to find out why.

He's got a sore quad that's lingering.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw that during the game yesterday. Fun game to watch. Lowe's double was held up by the wind & would have been an HR. Bobby Barrels continued his good hitting going 2-3 w/ a double & single. He also had a nice diving catch in CF. I've been impressed so far. Also, Nats showed good plate disciplne drawing walks on every 3-2 count. J. Rutledge continues to baffle me. He walked 4 straight & finally got out of the inning after 30+ pitches.

In context Nats picked Stras instead, case can be made the franchise got shot anyway.
