Trump is a pussy, he’ll talk big but won’t actually do shit.
Imagine a war where the leadership is a cognitively deficient Donald Trump and a drunk and stupid Pete Hegseth.
Discuss.

Funny thing is, I’m ALL FOR toppling the Iranian regime. But god damn do i not trust the current leadership to not totally fuck it up.

A cognitive deficient Donald Trump is still a dangerous Donald Trump. Fucking around with Iran and getting involved in another Middle Eastern war is both plain stupid and dangerous.
But this is what the cheeto Jesus does. He's the perfect magician. Look at this hand so you don't see what I'm doing with the other hand (hence his big billionaire bill). It's all a grift brought to you by the orange painted fuck stick and his legion of incompetent numbness.
Getting involved in this Israel/Iran war is a bad idea all the way around. Hell, we're a country in turmoil ourselves right now. We can make a good argument that we're teetering on the brink of a Civil War right here on our soil.

Sad that we're even having this discussion.

Declaring a war to another country is what governments usually do when they do have internal problems.
It's usually enough to take care of those "problems" by designing another ennemy.
Problem with war is not how do you enter it, but how do you go out of it.

The bombing isn’t going to have much practical effect, and indeed may strengthen the regime
Our own intel agencies were saying Iran was not close to a working weapon
Effecting a change in Iran is going to require boots on the ground.

I really doubt what is happening now is strenghtening the regime in any way.
Isreal seems to keep on cutting head after another. At some point, it'll have some impact on the country.
Most dictatorship are highly corrupted states. Those that are parts of this regime are not all fanaticals wannabe dictatorship. Most of them are doing this out of fear. Cut tenough heads and fear will go away easily.
Then anything can happen.

They could jus keep bombing them until their government and country collapses in itself.
It's not like Iran can stop Israel from going straight Gaza on them. It could be whatever unconditional surrender means here ...or that...

The fact that Israel is doing any and everything it wants while even their most powerful enemy is all but impotent shows that we've been lied to for decades with the whole "Small country in a tough neighborhood" BS. There's nobody in the ME capable of really threatening them. With Saddam and Assad gone, Hamas and Hezbollah easily and quickly destroyed, Iran's alleged nuclear program in shambles, and the rest of the Arab states having made peace or on the way to it, is there really still a need to keep sending a genocidal regime billions of dollars in weapons and aid every year?
And FWIW, with the Russian military struggling to subdue Ukraine, a country with limited military capability before being invaded, I think it's obvious we've been fed a line of BS by the defense lobby on that threat as well.

This has worked maybe one time - Serbia (technically Yugoslavia) in 1999. Didn't work in Germany in WW2, North Vietnam 1965-1973 , Afghanistan 2001-2021, or Iraq in the 1990s. It hasn't really worked against the Houthis. I'm not sure Iran now is comparable to Serbia in 1999
