The Washington Commanders’ offseason has followed some general themes from 2024 — but with a sped-up timeline to maximize the group around quarterback Jayden Daniels.
General Manager Adam Peters made a couple of splash moves before the start of free agency by trading for receiver Deebo Samuel and left tackle Laremy Tunsil. From there, Peters’s focus shifted to re-signing many of the team’s key veterans, beefing up its defensive line and finding players who fit a certain mold.
Washington’s free-agent signings are most older veterans on at least their third contract, with perhaps a little more to prove. They average about 30 years old, and their deals are on the shorter side — most are for one year — to give Washington flexibility in the years ahead.
Whether the Commanders can exceed their 12-5 finish from last season remains to be seen, but here are all the moves they made this ahead of the NFL draft — trades, re-signings, free agent acquisitions, contract restructures and free agent losses — as they begin to build for 2025 and beyond.
