Don't know why I thought of this, but suppose Shaq played football instead of basketball, would he have been the best TE in history?
I would have to lean towards yes. He would be basically undefendable. Pretty much an automatic TD once his team got inside the 10 yard line. The only thing that could/would slow him down is injuries.

His knees would have been better but I doubt that he’s running full speed down field much with his size.

I think Chris Webber, instead.
he was 6'9 or 6'10 with a 7'4" wingspan, an insane vertical leap (and overall athleticism for a big guy), and probably the best hands amongst big-time players in the history of the NBA. His hands were silken glue... he could catch any basketball pass one-handed ... a football would just disappear in his mitts if you tossed it anywhere within 8 feet of him. a QB could lob a pass a full 2-feet above what ANY db or lb in the NFL could reach, and he would've been able to bring it in with ease (before the knee injury and microfracture-surgery... of course)

This is nonsense. Great athlete have tried another sport and Bo was the only one who was decent. If creating a tight end was as simple as finding a big guy other teams would have tried this. There is more to playing tackle football than being big and a great athlete.

I think Lebron would have made an amazing TE - he'd be a bigger, faster, stronger, and higher leaper than Antonio Gates
