Well, it's been decided. We're squaring off against Philly on Sunday for the right to go to the Super Bowl.
There's that old clip that I can't find from the '91 team's highlight tape and there's a player, I think it's Monte Coleman, who was saying before the NFCCG against the Lions..."This is bigger than the Super Bowl! If you don't win today, you don't go!"
100% agree with that sentiment here and I'd argue that this is the biggest game since we beat Buffalo for the Super Bowl in early '92...I can't think of a bigger game we've had...not only is this for the Super Bowl, but it's through a hated division rival. You don't often get division rival matchups in conference championship games.
I can't wait. I cannot WAIT. We've got a quarterback who is growing and blossoming right before our very eyes, he's got ice in his veins and he's built for this moment. We've got a WR2 who is coming into his own, too. We've got a WR1 who has been patient, loyal and been through some really trying times and it's finally paying off for him. We've got a rickety old tight end who's good for a couple big catches per game and still has some juice left in the tank.
Outside of Barkley, there's no one on that team that scares me. Not Hurts, not Brown, not Smith. We've got Lattimore who stepped up yesterday and can take on Brown, and Mikey is a problem for wide receivers and matchups and his confidence has to be through the roof after having two picks yesterday.
I love the attitude they came out with yesterday, they came out swinging and throwing haymakers and not backing down from the Lions at all. AT ALL.
I like our chances and I like our guys. This is up for the taking and we've got the guys at the helm that can pull it off. LET'S FUCKING GO!!!

This is going to come down to the coaches being willing to stick a game plan of completely nullifying Philly’s run game and forcing Hurts to beat them with his arm. Even if they hit a few deep balls early, you have to keep the mindset that we refuse to let Barkley beat us. This is why you made the trade for Lattimore. This is why you trusted Mikey to develop as an outside CB. Trust your secondary to step up and meet the moment. And trust that Hurts will miss a few key passes and may even throw a couple picks.
On offense, trust JD5. Don’t ever take the ball out of his hands on 4th down like we did on our first drive last game. Win or lose with your MVP.

I agree with the notion of making Hurts beat us with his arm. Sell out to stop Barkley as best as you can...you can't really stop him 100%, but we've gotta stop him from ripping off the big runs. That's easier said than done.
If it comes down to Hurts trying to beat us with his arm vs. Daniels...I really like our chances. We've got the better quarterback.

I love the confidence, but '91 was a different beast. We were the best team in the league by any reasonable metric and by performance on the field.Tress Is The Way wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 8:59 am This has quickly turned into our year. It's 1991 all over again.
Anybody.

I think this game is going to be incredibly close.
