‘Just following Hispanic people': Citizen detained by ICE questions vote for Trump
A naturalized Hispanic man says he was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who were looking for another person on a deportation order, and now the man is questioning his vote for President Donald Trump.
Jensy Machado said he is a U.S. citizen and provided News4 documentation of his legal status.
Machado said he was driving to work Wednesday with two other men when he was stopped by ICE agents on Lomond Drive in Manassas, a short distance from his home. He said he was confused by what was happening, why agents surrounded the pickup truck.
“And they just got out of the car with the guns in their hands and say, turn off the car, give me the keys, open the window, you know,” Machado told Telemundo 44’s Rosbelis Quinoñez, who first reported his story. “Everything was really fast.”
He said the agents said the name of a man they were seeking for a deportation order, someone who had given Machado’s home address. Machado told them that wasn’t his name — he didn’t know anyone by that name — and offered to show them his real ID compliant Virginia driver’s license.
“They didn’t ask me for any ID,” Machado said. “I was telling the officer, if I can give him ID, but he said just keep my hands up, not moving. After that, he told me to get out of the car and put the handcuffs on me. And then he went to me and said how did I get into this country and if I was waiting for a court date or if I have any case. And I told him I was an American citizen, and he looked at his other partner like, you know, smiling, like saying, can you believe this guy? Because he asked the other guy, ‘Do you believe him?’”
Machado said he was uncuffed and immediately released after showing his driver’s license.
The two men with him were taken into custody. He does not know why.
Machado said the experience shook his faith in the immigration enforcement efforts of Trump, for whom he voted.
“Because, like I said, I was a Trump supporter,” he said. “I voted for Trump last election, but, because I thought it was going to be the things, you know, like, … just go against criminals, not every Hispanic looking, like, that they will assume that we are all illegals.”
“That’s what they’re doing, now,” Machado said. “They’re just following Hispanic people.”

‘Far-reaching consequences’ for Kentucky bourbon after LCBO strips U.S. spirits off shelves
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has promised to keep U.S. alcohol off LCBO shelves until the tariffs placed on Canadian goods by President Donald Trump are dropped “entirely.”
As of Tuesday, all American-made alcohol was stripped from LCBO shelves and its online catalogue as a “first round of retaliation” against the Trump administration’s levies, Ford said Tuesday.
Ford has previously singled-out Kentucky, the deeply red state touting a billion-dollar bourbon industry, as being particularly hard hit by Ontario’s move to remove U.S. liquor.
“The Governor of Kentucky said ‘Don’t touch our bourbon,’ and I said, ‘Governor, that’s the first thing we are going after. We’re going after their bourbon,’” the premier said in a speech earlier this week. “Well, we’re the largest purchaser of bourbon in the world for Kentucky bourbon manufacturers—they’re done, they’re gone.”
Here is how the retaliatory measure is being viewed south of the border:
‘Significant harm’
Speaking to Vassy Kapelos in an exclusive interview on CTV News Channel’s Power Play on Tuesday, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said the trade war is going to cause “significant harm” to people and businesses, including those involved in the state’s bourbon industry.
“These tariffs, which are the result of one individual, are going to cause our prices of gas to go up, are going to cause our prices of groceries to go up, are going to raise the cost of housing all across the United States,” the Democrat said, likening the levies as a betrayal from the Trump administration.
Canada has implemented retaliatory tariffs on $30 billion in U.S. imports, though it has agreed to delay a second wave of retaliatory tariffs on $125 billion of U.S. goods until April 2 following Trump’s decision to grant an exemption on goods covered under an existing free trade pact until that same date.
The retaliatory tariffs that are in place cover a range of goods, including about $589 million in spirits and other products.
That will in turn make it more expensive for key American industries like Kentucky bourbon makers, to sell their goods up north. Canada is Kentucky’s top export destination, shipping over $9.3 billion in products in 2024.
The Kentucky Distillers' Association (KDA) says bourbon is a $9 billion “signature industry in the Commonwealth, responsible for more than 23,000 jobs.”
“Unfortunately, the return of retaliatory tariffs on American whiskey will have far-reaching consequences across Kentucky, home to 95 per cent of the world’s bourbon,” Eric Gregory, KDA’s President, said in a statement issued Tuesday in response to Canada’s retaliatory measures.

The first couple paragraphs report a clinical trial, months in the making, ready to begin to test a new medication for throat/mouth cancer was derailed because a previously routine hiring was blocked by DOGEbags in another example of blind flailing.
Vets could end getting really effed by this admin. Between doge and potential SS interference.

I hate Trump more than any man alive. I also rely on Social Security as I am retired. I don't and will never believe my social security check will disappear, the problem is if there is an issue nobody will be home to help me. He believes the tariffs are going to make things better, but he didn't want Trump to effect HIS business directly, doesn't care about anything else. Trump said it was going to get worse before it got better, I didn't bother to tell him things will not get better. He thought Trump calling Elizabeth Warren, "Pocahantas" was hilarious at the SOTU, by the way.
2. The second guy is my boss, we talked about Trump before the SOTU. I tried to tell him about Musk and stealing Social Security, etc, he doesn't care. He's stupid and doesn't know anything about policy and falls for all of the fake stories that Trump drops on him. At one point he even told me, very smugly that "Trump is president and there is nothing you can do about it". He said that "Musk sure does have them scrambling", so I told him his retirement accounts were going to disappear with the stock market as well. He tried to tell me the stock market was up, I told him to check his accounts...he admitted that he didn't.
The next week the SOTU speech came up, he liked that Trump called Warren "Pocahantas" (these people are so stupid), didn't know about transgenic mice and all the other lies. I once again told him that Musk was going to take his SS (he thinks he will get it in 4 years), he's going to take everything so he can blow up his rockets on the taxpayer dime. Several hours later, a SpaceX rocket blew up and I sent him the link, telling him that I'm never wrong.
Well, that must've hit a nerve, Friday he's calling his account wondering about his accounts. Randomly talking about "How does Pelosi have all this money on her salary, she's worth millions?" and calling Democrats crooks. Well, I was trying to eavesdrop and I caught two main things: His accounts made $30k over the last two years (under Biden) and right now they're down a few percentage points for the year (or projected). Anyways, whatever he was told, was not good. He said "Its probably because of whats going on, huh?", meaning Trump being a dumbass. Once he heard that, from someone who isn't a black guy or a liberal, it became fact. He became quiet and wanting to move the goalpost like all Trumpers do...he'll be moving his goalposts deep into the red.
Let them lose their shirts, I'm just here to laugh at this point.
In short I agree with your position with regard to Trump and Elon. But telling your boss that his retirement account will disappear only hurts your credibility IMO.

I said his retirement accounts will disappear with the stock market, if you don't think they can't go lower...they can. You think your SS check will always come? Challenge accepted! They're coming for it, just because you don't think they won't doesn't mean its hands off.
