I was nervous the way they started, lucky Grand Canyon did not come out hot or they would have gained confidence and gotten the crowd behind them. What was so important was the Terps took the lead and never let the crowd get behind GCU.
Really happy they stopped at 49. People notice 81-49 more than 81-52. That was a statement game and we sent out the message that Maryland is for real. Just so happy to be back on the map again and in the conversation.

Thanks for posting that article with quotes from Willard, Brave. That tells you all you need to know. Willard is one of the top coaches in college basketball, and very well respected. Damon Evans, on the other hand, is a guy who I didn’t think should have gotten the Maryland AD job, and I think that’s been proven correct.
Maryland is a BIG program, in a B1G conference, and they need an AD that can think and perform in a BIG way. I’d happily drive Damon Evans to Dallas, if that’s what it takes to get him gone. Then, when Evans is gone, Maryland needs to make the right hire. Maryland, with one of the most fertile local recruiting grounds, is a sleeping giant. They need to make the hire that will wake that giant!

The love Kevin Willard is getting this week is perplexing. Going into this season there were real questions about him being up for the job at Maryland. How can we possible call a coach who has only been to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament 3 times and never any further one of the top coaches in college basketball?NotasLong StillLeft wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 10:30 amThanks for posting that article with quotes from Willard, Brave. I'm not a big fan of Evans for sure but these figures were kind of shocking. Maryland is 3rd from the bottom as far as revenue in the BIG, we aren't that far from the last spot. Their revenue is less than half of the top revenue program in the league Ohio State. So this is what he is dealing with.

I'm not a hater, I just can't let someone get away with calling him one of the top coaches in college basketball when he's never won a thing.abdcskins wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 1:48 pmI never got the Willard hate. He has been here three years! Fans are impatient and generally have unrealistic expectations. That being said, if they lose to Colorado State today...I expect a good effort.
Not referring to you. I post on Reddit and must have seen 50 posts calling for Willard's job over the past two years. I would agree, I don't necessarily think he is one of the "top" coaches in the same vein as Hurley, Self, Few, Oats, etc.Darrell Green Fan wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 5:28 pmI'm not a hater, I just can't let someone get away with calling him one of the top coaches in college basketball when he's never won a thing.abdcskins wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 1:48 pmI never got the Willard hate.
