I don't like it, but it needs to be done. America needs to hit rock bottom, its the only way the people will do something. I think ending government benefits will do it, people in the country aren't poor. They're not poor in a world sense, if they start getting a taste of real poverty, losing their homes and can't eat, they will kill. I'll say it this one, last time: if the Trump regime continues down this path, it will end in violence.
Been saying that since day 1. I think Trump actually relishes this thought, and believes he is untouchable because he is President. As a true idiot does, he learned nothing from getting winged last year.
Everyone not only let him off the hook for everything, but they voted him back into office. Why wouldn't he think he couldn't do what he wanted? He told these idiots EXACTLY what he wanted to do, they didn't believe him or care. They vote for the man, not the policy.

On a different note, I have to work late and work extra early tomorrow. I hope to be home int time to watch the SOTU, but I don't know. I love how all of these world leaders are dumping on him hours before the address, I hope he loses it live on tv while the world watches.

Also, if you're looking forward to the rebuttal, don't. Schumer chose Elissa Slotkin, a DINO who aligns with the center (AKA Maga). We seriously need new Dem leadership.

Lets see what the MAGA faithful say when they can't afford their next car:

Car Prices Poised for $12,000 Surge on Trump’s New Tariffs

Impending tariffs on Canada and Mexico risk driving up US car prices by as much as $12,000, further squeezing consumers and wreaking havoc across the intricate web of automotive supply lines spanning the continent.

The cost to build a crossover utility vehicle will rise by at least $4,000, while the increase would be three times that for an electric vehicle examined in a new study from Anderson Economic Group, an automotive consultant in East Lansing, Michigan. And those costs would likely be passed on to consumers, the study found.

“That kind of cost increase will lead directly — and I expect almost immediately — to a decline in sales of the models that have the biggest trade impacts,” Patrick Anderson, chief executive officer of Anderson Economic Group, said in an interview.

Tariffs of 25% on imports from Canada and Mexico threaten to exacerbate an automotive affordability crisis that is already driving buyers out of the market. Even before the duties, sticker prices were approaching $50,000 on average, up more than 20% from five years ago. The situation also calls into question Trump’s campaign promises to stem inflation as consumer confidence falls to a four-year low on fears over the impact of his import taxes.

Judge rules head of watchdog agency must keep his job, says his firing was unlawful

The head of a federal watchdog agency must remain in his job, a judge in Washington ruled on Saturday, saying President Donald Trump's bid to remove the special counsel was unlawful.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson sided with Hampton Dellinger, who leads the Office of Special Counsel, in a legal battle over the president's authority to oust the head of the independent agency that's likely headed back to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Dellinger sued Trump last month after he was fired, even though the law says special counsels can be removed by the president "only for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office." Jackson, who was nominated to the bench by Democratic president Barack Obama, quickly reinstated Dellinger in the job while he pursued his case.

Jackson rejected the Trump administration's claims that the special counsel's removal protections are unconstitutional because they prevent the president from rightfully installing his preferred agency head.

The judge said allowing the president to remove the special counsel at will would have a chilling effect on his crucial duties, which include guarding the federal workforce from illegal personnel actions, such as retaliation for whistleblowing.

"The Special Counsel is supposed to withstand the winds of political change and help ensure that no government servant of either party becomes the subject of prohibited employment practices or faces reprisals for calling out wrongdoing — by holdovers from a previous administration or by officials of the new one," Jackson wrote in her decision.

The Justice Department quickly filed court papers indicating it will challenge the ruling to Washington's federal appeals court. The case has already gone up once to the Supreme Court, which previously temporarily allowed Dellinger to remain in his job.

Ya gotta sign up and pay to read it all, but ny times has a piece on all the erroneous claims DOGE has made, and continues to make, on savings and cancelled contracts and how their website is full of errors and misinformation. Maybe Elon is Nazi-lite with a dash of rooskie flavoring.👹

One example was a list of dozens of government contracts in various fields of research, inc. military, medical, weather, agriculture etc., all based on relevance to national security and economic stability (and I believe it's necessary to always debate each case in real value for money spent).

But the vast majority of these examples given as DOGE cuts and savings were really just the programs expiring at their arranged dated. Every year that happens with dozens of programs. DOGE had nothing to do with it. They weren't cuts, not were they up for renewal that DOGE "rejected." They just expired at their predetermined time.

Another bunch were actually programs that had ended YEARS earlier.😳

The trump admin and cabinet: liars, crooks, traitors fascists, and sociopaths.
What's the link? Maybe can get past the paywall with webpage archive or something similar.
What is this dark magic you speak of? 😛

I think there was another ny piece on this same topic too, but not seeing it in my history.

Oops, I just saw China already got it. I'll leave this post here so everyone has one more piece of evidence of what a numbnutz I can be. 🤪

Usually pretty good about getting around paywalls.

Thinking about watching the "state of the union" address tonight, also don't know if I've got a way to stream it. Cut the cord, don't have access to the main channels.

But also, I can only take so much. I know what's going to happen which is basically a lot of lies....Republicans are going to go crazy and say it was all amazing, anyone who opposes Trump will say what garbage it is...blah blah blah.
