I don't think people realize the impact of these Federal job cuts on the food industries. I expect it will only get worse. While this is an opinion article, it describes the lack of updated information from the CDC on the 2 most recent outbreaks.

Food Safety Advocate Questions Why Foodborne Illness Outbreaks are Unreported by the Premier Public Health Agency in the Time of Trump
“Two multi-state foodborne illnesses outbreaks have been reported by the FDA since the beginning of the year,” William “Bill” Marler, owner of Marler Clark, Inc., PS, The Food Safety Law Firm. “However, contrary to how outbreaks have been publicly announced and posted on line for decades, the CDC has remained silent,” added Marler.

I work at the largest state public health agency and the cuts to CDC are already being felt. All manners of Public Health, including those related to food safety is going to be akin to playong russian roulette soon, if Elonald has their way.Emir of Schmoe wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 3:04 pmI don't think people realize the impact of these Federal job cuts on the food industries. No judgements, but wherever possible y'all, please don't post Xitter links. Aside from the obvious, many of us, me included DX'd their Xitter accounts, so unless I sign back up, the link she references won't be available. It wasn't hard to find her on Bluesky and elsewhere, but that defeats part of the purpose of posting a link to something, i.e., convenient access. Not a complaint, just a gentle suggestion for the good of the order.hail2skins wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:14 pmDidnt really know where to put this, but this is a Twitter post that summarizes the Gen Z mindset. She links to a Substack that goes into more detail. It just seems bleak:
Anywho, here it is if anyone is interested. https://bsky.app/profile/losangeles.bsk ... k6ej5vck2d
And yes, @hail2skins it is bleak. I've said for some time that I'm really glad not to be early in my career at this point. That said, being just short of the traditional retirement age has its own risks and potential pitfalls in the era of extreme chaos.

The GOP has already started canceling townhalls, infact, they ghosted their constituents in one state and only the Democrats showed up. We can do that instead, we'll hold the townhalls and get people on board with our plan.Renegade7 wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 2:02 amMany of these folks aren't afraid of Trump as they are his followers. The Evil Genius wrote: Sat Feb 22, 2025 4:39 pmAt this current rate (it's only been a month ffs), I can't see town halls being a thing much longer as these Congress people will likely end up fearing for their life if they are a Trump ass kissing politician.
The call will be coming from inside the house, so to speak, when their base is cut off from Social Security and Medicare/caid and those savings cover the top 1% getting a tax cut.
If enough of MAGA finally turns on him that that changes, House will do the same.

Is it an automatic assumption that AI would be reading these emails?
I know no one has explained OPM to Musk yet, but the employees there have like...you know...jobs.
If they tell each employee there to stop their jobs and concentrate on reading the millions of emails that would come in, how long will that take?
