Yep, that and the amount of rare earth metal estimated under Greenlands ice.Corcaigh wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:35 pmOK, even if you can dismiss NATO as legacy, the EU is real and probably won’t take kindly to one of their members being attacked. Germany and France have already told Trump to STFU.Renegade7 wrote: Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:25 pmIt would be the end of NATO as we know it because they wouldn't want that smoke.Corcaigh wrote: Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:30 am
Denmark is a founding member of NATO so an attack on Greenland is declaring war on the rest of NATO.
I'm not advocating this, but I can't think of many things more unstoppable then an expansionist US.
The irony of course in Trump’s new interest in Greenland and Canada is that because of climate change areas up near the Arctic Circle with rich oil and gas deposited are now more accessible to Chinese and Russian ice breakers. Of course climate change as we all known is fake but let’s not the availability of new oil & gas deposits get in the wrong hands.
In the context of people hoping Greenland gets independence and joins NATO before China tries to get it themselves, it's only crazy because some crazy dude is suggesting it.
It's a horrible idea to not only violate NATO but attack members. There's really no way France or Germany could stop us, they gonna threaten us with nukes?
These are hypotheticals I don't want to give energy to....it's such a stupid idea but still plausible.
Hot take....I think some countries like Russia want global warming so their territory and resources become more accessible.
