I've got to say Trump isn't kidding around. Either he's going to turn the US into a failed state or be one the biggest presidential reformers we've ever had
The only good that has come out of the ukraine war is we are seeing that the old way of waging war is over. Ukrainians have been on the cutting edge of drone warfare, necessitated by their lack of manpower. They have torn up tanks, killed individual soldiers and sunk capital ships with fairly inexpensive drones. This is not a one time event, and Hegseth spoke to it a couple of weeks ago. Manned aircraft, aircraft carriers and traditional weapons systems may be a thing of the past. We certainly won't need as many as we have now. The next battlefield will be robots, drones and AI, and we are woefully unprepared.
You can't remotely hack bullets.
So much of our bloat is on R&D.
Spending that much money in the military and still being "woefully unprepared" for modern warfare sounds so stupid it's hard to believe. We have lasers and railguns ffs.
We are losing our ability to defend ourselves in cyberspace moreso because of discipline and consistency versus resources and money. Local level needs more help, but more centralized standards and actual requirements will lift all boats more efficiently.
But no one likes being told what to do until they don't know what to do.
It's all going to come under review. R&D is definitely a mess, as is procurement. And we are struggling in cyberspace because our kids are too stupid coming out of government run schools to compete. While our kids are learning about 57 genders and taking selfies, chinese kids are learning math and computers. It effects everything from national security to the workforce.

I do cybersecurity for a living. They aren't stupid, they arent enabled to do their job.
It's easier to accept risk then manage it right now...it seems too easy to hit places because it is right now.
No GenZ coming green as grass can fix that...that starts at the top and rolls us all over on the way down.

"They aren't stupid, they arent enabled to do their job." You should be a diplomat. That's a very nice way of saying the schools haven't prepared them for the workforce.

You are criticizing a matter you know little to nothing about.
System Owners get the final say on how risk is managed, not newbs.

Be careful not to troll each other and that goes for @Sarge too!

Sure, let's pretend a feeble dude who respects American norms and institutions is even REMOTELY equivalent to . . . wait for it . . .
A federally adjudicated rapist, a twice-impeached insurrectionist, a damn FELON (please spare me a "Biden crime family" response, dude), a con man, a white supremacist, and a bama who's mobbed up in NYC and Moscow. It's an absolute joke, and your marching orders are pathetic.
Emoluments clause? Conflict of interest? Separation of powers? He's burning it all down. It's NOT CONSERVATIVE.
You may be familiar with the old adage "when fascism comes to America, it'll be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." Guess what?

I do think our schools need a major reset as to how they instruct students. Is project-based learning the answer? Also, I wonder if there's enough meaningful work for our population.
