Apparently the DoD is going to be feeling the heat pretty soon. Wonder how @Sarge feels about this one

I've got to say Trump isn't kidding around. Either he's going to turn the US into a failed state or be one the biggest presidential reformers we've ever had

This man coming after military industrial complex like he has a death wish.
I hate this him with a passion, but on this one I say let him cook and see what he comes up with. At minimum you piss off the one entity every dictator needs and that's a loyal military.
Good luck with that one, buddy.
40% of the planet's military spending and more then the next 10 countries combined while not being actively at war with anyone? That's where these bammas should've started.
Win win.

Haven't met recruit goals in a long time, and that really goes against the playbook of a loyal military. The Evil Genius wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 8:15 pmThat 8% defense budget cut is only to pay for Hegseth's bar tabs.
Edit..I bet they don't go after the defense infrastructure costs. It's will be personnel only. And probably heavily towards veterans cuts.
@Sarge
Wait, Biden was worse than Andrew Jackson, W, Andrew Johnson, Trump, et. al.?
Oh wait, you must be a cartoon. The Infrastructure Act was the most significant piece of American legislation since the mid-1960s. So much so that every Republican campaigned on it, even though they all voted against it.
Biden was old and weakened considerably. He also alienated a lot of the younger base when he didn't pass the torch.
But unless you hate soaring stock portfolios, stability, and rehabilitated relations with our allies, then that opinion is a joke.
My dad was army, CIA, and NASA. I care about American institutions. Trump is the enemy, and it's not in any way ambiguous. Shouldn't you be a Dallas fan?

And the only reason he hates USAID is because of the org's staunch criticism of apartheid, his familial legacy. The Evil Genius wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:53 pmThe only reasons that Elonald hates Ukraine is because Elon owes Russian investors for Twitter and because Ukraine wouldn't help dig up fake dirt for Donald in 2019 and it led to his first impeachment.
The only good that has come out of the ukraine war is we are seeing that the old way of waging war is over. Ukrainians have been on the cutting edge of drone warfare, necessitated by their lack of manpower. They have torn up tanks, killed individual soldiers and sunk capital ships with fairly inexpensive drones. This is not a one time event, and Hegseth spoke to it a couple of weeks ago. Manned aircraft, aircraft carriers and traditional weapons systems may be a thing of the past. We certainly won't need as many as we have now. The next battlefield will be robots, drones and AI, and we are woefully unprepared.DCSaints_fan wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 8:00 pmApparently the DoD is going to be feeling the heat pretty soon. During bidens watch, more people died of covid than during Trumps presidency. He killed 80,000 jobs on his first day by killing the keystone pipeline, telling those workers to "learn to cope". He also told coal miners to "learn to code". His war on the energy sector lead directly to the record inflation we suffered, all in a futile attempt to "go green". His economy was so awesome that Americans now carry a record amount of credit card debt, accumulated just trying to survive. Our allies laughed at us for having an Alzheimer's patient as president. He was so infirmed they had to take him to Dover almost every weekend to get him back in familiar surroundings, a common practice with Alzheimers patients. Most of the jobs "created" went to illegals and the others disappeared in quarterly revisions that were downgrades. And then there was their attempt to redefine "recession", which most economists agree we were in but the White House didn't want to admit. Shall I go on? Being in that much denial, maybe YOU should be the Dallas fan. They've been in denial for 25 yearsJCB wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 8:35 pm@Sarge

So much of our bloat is on R&D.
Spending that much money in the military and still being "woefully unprepared" for modern warfare sounds so stupid it's hard to believe. We have lasers and railguns ffs.
We are losing our ability to defend ourselves in cyberspace moreso because of discipline and consistency versus resources and money. Local level needs more help, but more centralized standards and actual requirements will lift all boats more efficiently.
But no one likes being told what to do until they don't know what to do.
