Paying Deebo 17.5 mil with his level of production and number of injuries the last few years seems crazy.
I assume that was why we only had to pay a 5th rounder for him. It's a little on the high side, but not insane, especially given the cap room we have.

That said, I've always thought Deebo was a bit overrated and at least partially a product of the system and surrounding talent (the fact that his numbers tapered off pretty dramatically once other injuries forced more of a load on him could support this).

But GMAP knows far more about him and football in general than I do, so I'll trust his judgement on it.

before Deebo go sick he was projected for 68 catches for 1,139 yards for 16.7 yards a catch-I am not complaining

Once I saw that he was traded for a 5th I felt a bit relieved. I was scared we traded more than that.

He looked washed last year but for a 5th its worth the risk.
Same was said of Ertz, Ekeler, etc.
Our coaching staff has proven they can bring out more from the players.

Ertz was just injury prone. When healthy he's always been good.

Ekler might be a good comparison though. In 2023 Ekler had a monster opening game, but then got hurt. He played through the injury but the Chargers season fell apart and everyone sucked.

Samuel had two 100 yard games in the first 5 last year, but then got pneumonia. He tried to play through it but struggled and the 49ers season fell apart and like the Chargers, everyone sucked (except Kittle somehow).

Hopefully a healthy and fit Samuel will be motivated playing in hopefully big meaningful games all year long.

deebo has been on my fantasy team since the early days (we can keep 8 players). I was going to cut him this year, but i think he is a perfect fit here and will be perfect putty in a Kingsbury stew. and besides, it'll be nice to have a friendly on my team---- i haven't burgundy and gold on my team since RGIII.

I think this is one of those buy low opportunities. Of course I felt the same way about McNabb when we got him from the eagles so I don’t have the best track record when it comes to evaluating talent.
