Looks like the ketamine train has ran its course.
Elon Musk lashed out on Tuesday against the far-reaching Republican bill intended to enact President Trump’s domestic policy agenda, posting on X that it was a “disgusting abomination” and telling House members who voted for it: “You know you did wrong.”
The tech billionaire’s criticism of the bill, one of Mr. Trump’s top priorities, was another indication of a widening rift between Mr. Musk and the president. Mr. Musk — who has left his governmental role leading the Department of Government Efficiency — largely presented a united front with the Trump administration until recently.
Last month, Mr. Musk started publicly criticizing Mr. Trump’s bill, saying in an interview with CBS News’s “Sunday Morning” that he was disappointed in the legislation’s size and impact on the deficit.
On Tuesday, Mr. Musk ramped up his criticism, writing on X: “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.” He called the bill “massive, outrageous, pork-filled.” In follow-up posts, he said, “It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit” and “Congress is making America bankrupt.”

US immigration officers ordered to arrest more people even without warrants
Senior US immigration officials over the weekend instructed rank-and-file officers to “turn the creative knob up to 11” when it comes to enforcement, including by interviewing and potentially arresting people they called “collaterals”, according to internal agency emails viewed by the Guardian.
Officers were also urged to increase apprehensions and think up tactics to “push the envelope” one email said, with staff encouraged to come up with new ways of increasing arrests and suggesting them to superiors.
“If it involves handcuffs on wrists, it’s probably worth pursuing,” another message said.
The instructions not only mark a further harshening of attitude and language by the Trump administration in its efforts to fulfill election promises of “mass deportation” but also indicate another escalation in efforts, by being on the lookout for undocumented people whom officials may happen to encounter – here termed “collaterals” – while serving arrest warrants for others.
The emails, sent by two top Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) officials this past Saturday, instructed officers around the country to increase arrest numbers over the weekend. This followed the Department of Homeland Security secretary, Kristi Noem, and the White House deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, pressing immigration officials last month to jack up immigration-related arrests to at least 3,000 people a day.
One of the emails, written by Marcos Charles, the acting executive associate director of Ice’s enforcement and removal operations, instructs Ice officials to go after people they may coincidentally encounter.

One 'unusual' legal case may show Trump has 'something to hide': ex-prosecutor
Donald Trump's administration appears to have something to hide, based on an "unusual" legal case brought by a purported deportee, an ex-prosecutor said.
Trump and his administration have been at the heart of many key legal challenges already in the president's second administration, but one threatens to reveal what Trump could be hiding, according to former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance.
"This evening, in Columbus, Georgia, not exactly a bastion of liberalism, federal Magistrate Judge Amelia Helmick ordered the government to disclose the terms of the deal it made with El Salvador to house people it has sent to that country’s CECOT terrorist prison," she wrote. "The case involved a Venezuelan man, identified as E.D.Q.C., who was deported without due process, and specifically, an opportunity to raise a fear of torture claim if he was sent to El Salvador."
According to Vance, "His case is unusual because he is one of the men who El Salvador apparently rejected from the flight that led to the case before Judge Boasberg in Washington, D.C. Judge Helmick found his removal was 'likely unlawful' and has ordered discovery to give the plaintiff an opportunity to make out his case."
