Commanders grant two-time Pro Bowl DT Jonathan Allen permission to seek a trade
Allen has the third-highest cap number on the Commanders team in 2025 at $22.47 million. A trade or outright release would free up nearly $17 million in cap space.

I feel sort of the reverse of this. While I like to have Myles Garrett -- i am outright petrified of him ending with the Eagles. Feels like game over if the Eagles landed him.
So am cool with the Browns sticking to their stance of not trading him because even though I'd like to have him i am much more scared of the Eagles landing him. the Eagles landing Garrett feels like the perfect domino for them.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way about Bobby Wagner. I loved the signing, wanted him years ago. And I understand he graded out well. But sorry I just didn't see the impact his numbers would suggest. He sure made a ton of tackles 6 yards downfield. I know others are to blame but it's hard for me to see a defense that was gutted up the middle from Game 1 on and feel that Bobby Wagner was a force on defense.GoingCommando wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 6:54 amWe need to move on from Wagner even at half that number. His intangibles are strong, but he can't cover anyone any more and it is killer. His run D is so good that you hate to lose that. But even still, we have to play with light boxes, in large part, because he can't cover anyone so that it comes out as a wash for our run D in the end. Also he's not running down the Saquon Barkleys or Bijan Robinsons or James Cooks of the NFL any more.
We need better coverage in our back seven and a big part of that is getting a MIKE who can single cover slot weapons, tight Ys, and backs.
His leadership will be missed but there are plenty of others to fill that role, if they really want to improve their defense they need to upgrade this position with more speed and playmaking ability IMO.

Before we see who is reupped, the NFL dot com top 101 free agents have 4 CBs in their top 15.
Carlton Davis, Chavarius Ward, DJ Reed, and Byron Murphy. I want the one who Quinn and Whitt feel would fit their system best, and allow Mikey S. to move inside and thrive there.
The sportstalk yak about bringing back a guy like Brandon Sherff isn't the worst idea. he's older, but was healthy on a terrible team. We know he can play and with Cosmi likely out a bit next year, need a guy.
Before that, I really want Wagner and Chinn back.
I don't love the rest of the free agent class to be honest.
