Even if companies stocked up right before tariffs, we're going to see a lot of empty shelves soonish if this rate continues.

I'm sure that will go over well.

It's always a grift for Republicans.

Should have had someone smother himself with his excess pillow stock.

Trump is detaining U.S. citizens now. Unless you're white and a Trump supporter; you will be detained. Though this guy being talked about was a Trump supporter but he wasn't white. If they find something in your phone against Trump, you will be detained. Possibly, shipped off to an El Salvadoran prison.

This border harassment of anyone entering the country, will have negative impacts on the economy. Tourism will crash. Foreign businesses will put out. If their employees have to be hassled everytime entering the U.S.; why do business here.

The World Cup people need to move next year's World Cup. The U.S. is hosting most of the matches. If the other hosts, Canada and Mexico can't handle the whole thing, then move it elsewhere. Same with the 28 LA Olympics. The U.S. can't hold them. Trump will harass the athletes and other country's visitors and may not allow them in. Why allow the trump Dictatorship the honor, if he's going to treat everyone like garbage.

My company was planning a fairly expensive display for a tradeshow in China in the coming weeks. We've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and months of planning on this and everything is stuck in customs at the moment. It's been that way for ~2 weeks.

My Chinese colleagues are spending insane hours trying to come up with a backup plan (essentially rebuild a fairly elaborate display in-country with schematic drawings and pictures).

(And yes, building in-country was always the preferred option, but we have much more capacity across all the functional teams to do it exactly how we wanted it and then ship it to China),

I’d say that I’m shocked, but I’m not. Too much corruption and blatant illegality from the Trump administration that it’s difficult to keep up with it all. Unfortunately, that’s part of the strategy.
