Elon Musk Lackeys Have Taken Over the Office of Personnel Management
https://www.wired.com/story/elon-musk-l ... ng-stalin/
According to the same sources, other people at the top of the new OPM food chain include two people with apparent software engineering backgrounds, whom WIRED is not naming because of their ages. One, a senior adviser to the director, is a 21-year-old whose online résumé touts his work for Palantir, the government contractor and analytics firm cofounded by billionaire Peter Thiel, who is its chair. (The former CEO of PayPal and a longtime Musk associate, Thiel is a Trump supporter who helped bankroll the 2022 Senate campaign of his protégé, Vice President JD Vance.) The other, who reports directly to Scales, graduated from high school in 2024, according to a mirrored copy of an online résumé and his high school’s student magazine; he lists jobs as a camp counselor and a bicycle mechanic among his professional experiences, as well as a summer role at Neuralink, Musk’s brain-computer interface company.

I'm not taking the severance, there's no way to trust it given he's a perpetual liar and so many people will there won't be any job openings around here.

This shit is getting ridiculous fast. In fact, we past that already.

Acosta Out
CNN exists to normalize MAGA to the masses who still believe them to be a credible news organization. Acosta is smart to leave instead of be sidelined there.

Wet just got that resignation offer email this morning. Seems it wasn't as easy to fire us as they thought, so now they're dangling these bullshit buyouts. It's such bullshit.

Between being active duty military, a contractor, and now federal employee, my entire adult life has been in service to the United States government. 23 years. And I have lost all faith in this country. We are so fucked.

‘No rebuilding without them’: Trump’s immigration crackdown will affect disaster recovery

Trump’s immigration crackdown could cause chaos for communities trying to rebuild after devastating wildfires and floods, as the vast majority of skilled disaster-restoration workers are immigrants, a leading expert has warned.

Republican and Democratic voters across the US are reeling from climate-fueled disasters, with thousands of homes and businesses destroyed and damaged by the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, as well as major hurricanes in Florida, Texas, North Carolina and Georgia last year.

In each place, recovery depends on restoration or resilience workers, who travel from disaster to disaster cleaning up and rebuilding American communities while facing hazards such as unstable buildings, ash and other toxins, and water-borne diseases.

“Like farm workers in the fields, immigrants are indispensable to fire, flood and hurricane recovery in the US. There is absolutely no rebuilding without them,” said Saket Soni, director of Resilience Force, a labor organization with almost 4,000 members, who are primarily immigrant workers.

“Mass deportations would completely upend the ongoing recovery in Florida, Louisiana and North Carolina from last year’s hurricanes. It would stall the rebuilding of LA after fires … and at this point, anyone anywhere is at risk of having their home impacted by a climate disaster. So everyone need these skilled workers.”

The disaster industry is growing in the US, as climate-fueled extreme weather events become more intense and destructive – and as rebuilding becomes more profitable.

While there is no official count, the current resilience workforce includes tens of thousands of mostly foreign-born workers from across Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as India and the Philippines, among other countries. It is a diverse mix of skilled workers that includes undocumented immigrants, as well as many documented asylum seekers, settled refugees and those with work permits through temporary protected status (TPS).

Remember this from a couple of weeks ago:

Eric Adams, With Pardon Talk Swirling, Meets With Trump Near Mar-a-Lago

Well, now we have this reporting:

Justice Dept. Is Said to Discuss Dropping Case Against Eric Adams

Senior Justice Department officials under President Trump have held discussions with federal prosecutors in Manhattan about the possibility of dropping their corruption case against Mayor Eric Adams of New York, according to five people with knowledge of the matter.

The officials have also spoken to Mr. Adams’s defense team since Mr. Trump took office, the people said. The defense team is led by Alex Spiro, who is also the personal lawyer for Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and one of the president’s closest advisers.

Mr. Adams was indicted in September on charges including bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign contributions after an investigation that began in 2021. He has pleaded not guilty, maintained his innocence and contended that he is being prosecuted because he criticized the Biden administration.

In recent weeks, Mr. Adams, a Democrat, has curried favor with Mr. Trump, traveling to Mar-a-Lago, attending the inauguration and saying that, from now on, he will share any criticisms of the president in private.

I wonder what the price was. Trump is easily bought. The corruption is sickening.
