he's totally gone. Villanova has no real football team, so their NIL money is through the roof due to big name donors. Villanova was talking to Pitino, but now that he's gone to Xavier, that only leaves Willard.
I don’t know. If Maryland does the “right” thing, and sack Evans, they may get Willard to stay, provided he gets assurances that his program will get added NIL monies. They’ll be losing a good number of players this offseason, and will need that bump in cash to bring guys in through the portal. It’s not like Maryland doesn’t have a massive alumni base, and some pretty significant donors. They need an AD in who can take advantage of that, and start bringing in big money.

Hopefully, this summer the NCAA will get their heads out of their collective asses, and institute a cap on yearly NIL money for all programs. Otherwise, we’ll be seeing the same 8-10 universities winning everything.

There's so much going on behind the scenes right now.

I'll just say this: Willard is a snake.

From everything I'm reading, I agree with that. There's a rumor he didn't show up to the team dinner last night. If they come out flat and get blown out, it is on him for creating the distraction ahead of the biggest game we've had in years.

I wanted Rick Pitino after Turgeon was fired. I'd still take his old ass over this, at least with him, it is warranted since he's got a HoF career.

Locksley better hope he is, or that seat about to get real warm.

Okay yeah you're right  I heard he didn't attend the team dinner last night. Hate that all of this happening now. Hope it doesn't affect the team tonight.

And, to address what’s going on with Willard. Coaches tend to get pissed off when their AD’s don’t have their back.

True...but when you ask for concessions, get them, and still lie to multiple people (players, boosters) I have no sympathy.

Basically, dude put the school on blast in an attempt to justify leaving.

What he didn't anticipate was the school giving him exactly what he asked for....and now he looks like an ass.

Edit: And he has "allegedly" been recruiting kids to Villanova while still employed by the University of Maryland.
