What sucked is not just the board died, but all the data is gone.

The Commanders org could have at least been nice enough to release all the data.

Its honestly best they didnt...it's probably a huge Part of what got it shutdown.

Regarding OP, I started talking to more people I knew in person. I still do, I was already on reddit, I'm also on BGO.

I community is made of people, that's what made ES special. My mother would say home is where you make it...make time to stay in touch with folks...I'm a recluse that focuses on family but my door isn't closed, especially to folks I've known for 10-20 years.

ES having the plug pulled just before the election was annoying. A great venting platform was removed.

Since then, I drew back from online Redskin stuff for a couple of months and only started up again recently.

When ES went dead, I drank a bunch. Unclear if there was a causal nexus.

^^This. I also tried the Discord site but without real threads it was almost like being on fb. I'm hoping more of the old community drifts in over the next few months.

I hadn't posted in several years and didn't even know about it until I saw somebody mention it on FB I think. Then I PMed somebody and found out it was turned back on. So that's when I went on and copied a couple OPs. I didn't even sign on.

I cheered, then did a shot in memory of what it used to be. I joined in 2003, never posted much, but it was home. All of a sudden, there were about 5 threads that were active on the homepage. Anybody starting another thread was ridiculed and admonished. Anybody with an opinion not shared by the "core members" was attacked relentlessly and shamed. It became a political forum. Outlandish personal attacks were allowed and cheered in the Tailgate. It seeped onto The Stadium, where you could get away with a snarky political comment as long as you were on the right side. It's no wonder at all that they pulled the plug. Who wants that level of hatred and vitriol associated with a football team? Good riddance.

So, because they didn't censor the site to suit your political beliefs and protect your delicate ego, you're now glad it's gone. I bet you're a blast at parties.

You do know we are trying to recreate ES here? If the old mods ever come here, they would be offered to be mods here.

Having conservative opinions is fine, you have to base your discussion with a fact based approach however and avoid one liners that are designed to antagonize. I know a lot of people had a problem with jumbo, but from what I could tell he just wanted people to stick to facts, which can be hard for conservatives since they base so many of their opinions on beliefs.

There is a subtle difference between you ate stupid and your arguments are stupid. I think that might be where your comments about personal attacks being allowed in the tailgate. Finally there is a difference between a long term member slipping up and a newbie continuously fanning the flames.

That said, being a new board we aren’t out to ban anyone lol.
