Overview
Sixth-year senior and team captain with two years of starting experience. Medrano’s long, lean frame is more reminiscent of a strong safety than a linebacker. He plays with good decisiveness to fill up run fits ahead of blocks, but he gets pushed around when they find him. He has average pursuit speed but above-average man-cover talent underneath. His missed tackle total is problematic, so he will need to stand out on special teams and as a dime linebacker to offer value as an undersized OLB.

Strengths
Good understanding of where his run fits live.
Rushes downhill to constrict run lanes near the line.
Decisiveness allows him to make more positive plays.
Matches route breaks with quick lateral transitions.
Could offer dime-package value covering tight ends.
Extensive experience as core special-teamer.

Weaknesses
Strong safety build might be close to maxed out.
Not enough pursuit speed to make up for a lack of size.
Swallowed and eliminated when blocks land flush.
Below-average play recognition in coverage.
Shallow angles and poor tackle strength lead to high miss count.

None of that is important compared to his haircut...

At this point in the draft you are looking for players who offer something. This guy has speed and coverage ability, could carve out a niche as a 3rd down backer.

Fastest LB in the draft. Could be a Special Teams demon and in a couple years develop into a decent LB with his speed meaning he should be able to cover and move sideline to sideline.

Listening to Logan Paulsen (who said this before the draft), Sheehan, and Smoot gush, i got to get around to watching him.

they describe him as a dude who plays with his hair on fire, with great instincts against the pass.

He was the only they took before the draft that I didn't watch before the draft.
