Laremy Tunsil was just the start.

A month after trading for the veteran offensive tackle, the Washington Commanders again addressed their line by drafting Oregon tackle Josh Conerly Jr. with the 29th pick Thursday night.

Washington’s focus throughout the offseason was to build around quarterback and NFL offensive rookie of the year Jayden Daniels, and it continued into the first round of the draft, when the team had its pick of a number of talented edge rushers and defensive backs but chose instead to continue to build the offensive front.

Conerly, 21, was a two-year starter at left tackle for the Ducks, but in Washington, he figures to switch to the right side and compete for the starting tackle job with Brandon Coleman, a third-round pick in last year’s draft, and veteran Andrew Wylie, the team’s starting right tackle last season.
