BBC is reporting Putin is agreeing to ceasefire.

However, I'm hearing other news there is a precondition that Ukraine not "mobilize" or receive arm shipments, so this could be less than sincere.

Zelensky Also Agrees to Limited Cease-Fire in Call With Trump

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine agreed in a Wednesday phone call with President Trump to accept Russia’s offer for a mutual pause in attacks on energy targets for 30 days as a step toward a broader cease-fire.

During the call, Mr. Trump also floated the idea of the United States taking control of Ukrainian power plants — an idea that Ukrainian energy experts said was probably unworkable.

It was not immediately clear how or when a pause in strikes would take hold. As the statements were issued, alarms sounded in parts of Ukraine to warn of Russian drones in the sky.

Even a narrow agreement between Mr. Zelensky and President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia would leave a wide chasm between their positions on how the war could end.

Russia and Ukraine traded blame on Friday over an attack on a gas metering station that lies in Russia’s Kursk region, just a few hundred meters from their shared border.

The attack on the facility in Sudzha comes just days after the US proposed both sides pause attacks on energy infrastructure.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed Kyiv had “deliberately attacked” the station, which has been under Ukrainian control since Ukraine launched a surprise incursion into Kursk in August 2024.

Russia says it cannot accept US peace plan for Ukraine ‘in its current form’

Moscow has described the latest US peace proposals as unacceptable to the Kremlin, highlighting the limited progress Donald Trump has made on his promise to end the war in Ukraine since taking office in January.

Sergei Ryabkov, a foreign policy adviser to Vladimir Putin, said some of Russia’s key demands were not being addressed by the US proposals to end the war, in comments that marked a rare acknowledgment from the Russian side that talks with the US over Ukraine had stalled in recent weeks.

“We take the models and solutions proposed by the Americans very seriously, but we can’t accept it all in its current form,” Ryabkov was quoted by state media as telling the Russian magazine International Affairs. It came after Trump on Sunday revealed his frustration with Putin, saying he was “pissed off” and threatening to impose tariffs on Russian oil exports.

“All we have today is an attempt to find some kind of framework that would first allow for a ceasefire – at least as envisioned by the Americans,” Ryabkov said.

“As far as we can see, there is no place in them today for our main demand, namely to solve the problems related to the root causes of this conflict.”

Putin has repeatedly referred to what he claimed were the “root causes” of the conflict to justify his hardline position on any prospective deal to end the war in Ukraine.

As preconditions for a ceasefire, the Russian leader has insisted on terms that would, in effect, dismantle Ukraine as an independent, functioning state – pulling it firmly into Russia’s sphere of influence.

He has demanded that Kyiv recognise Russia’s annexation of Crimea and four partly occupied regions in the south-east, withdraw its forces from those areas, pledge never to join Nato, and agree to demilitarisation.

Russia ‘fooling Ukrainian children into becoming suicide bombers for money’ as desperate Putin turns to sick tactic

The desperate Russian despot has been offering teenagers and vulnerable civilians cash in exchange for their lives, according to Ukrainian security services.

Back in March, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old were recruited by Putin's henchmen and given orders to construct and carry a bag of explosives through a Ukrainian city, reports New Lines Magazine.

The teens were walking through the city of Ivano-Frankivsk when the improvised explosives they were carrying suddenly exploded.

The 17-year-old was instantly killed in the blast.

His younger friend was left hospitalised with life changing injuries.

Ukrainian officials later claimed the device they had been carrying - given to them by Russian handlers - had been remotely detonated.

Both had been offered "easy money", Ukraine said.

A similar tragedy saw a group of Ukrainian soldiers targeted by a hired mum-of-one.

In February, an innocent looking woman walked up to a group of men who were outside a cafe in Mykolaiv.

She placed her bag next to the crowd and within seconds it exploded.

It was remotely detonated and killed the 42-year-old and three of the soldiers who were all members of Ukraine’s demining corps, Kyiv announced.

Russian media tried to claim the mum had acted out of vengeance after her young son was killed in the horrors of war.

But she had actually been allegedly recruited by Russia through Telegram.

A Russian intelligence agent had given her the bag and said it contained a large amount of money which needed to be delivered to the men, the magazine reports says.

The woman had no idea she was set up to be a suicide bomber, it added.

The bomb had reportedly even been prepared by a group of teenagers aged between 14 and 17 from Poltava Oblast.

A Ukrainian intelligence officer told New Lines that he believes Moscow deliberately entices in young people as they are easier to brainwash.

They said: “Teenagers and young people are easier to recruit for such actions, when you characterise what they’re being asked to do as some sort of game.

“The Russian intelligence services consider such people ‘one-time’ assets and have never been worried about them.”

Ukraine says it shot down Russian fighter jet from sea drone for first time

Ukraine destroyed a Russian Su-30 fighter jet using a missile fired from a seaborne drone, Ukraine's GUR military intelligence agency announced on Saturday, in what it said was the world's first downing of a combat plane by a maritime drone.

Its statement on social media said the fighter had been shot down by a military intelligence unit called Group 13 on Friday over waters near Novorossiisk, a major Russian port city on the Black Sea.

Outmanned and outgunned by its larger, wealthier Russian adversary, Ukraine has turned to drone warfare in the air and at sea as a way to fight back throughout more than three years of full-scale war.

Ukraine's seaborne drones, which are much cheaper and smaller than conventional ships, have wrought havoc on Russia's Black Sea fleet.

Ukraine has previously said it shot down a Russian military helicopter in December 2024 using a missile fired from the same type of seaborne drone.

The Russian Defence Ministry did not comment on the Ukrainian claim, but an authoritative Russian blogger believed to be close to the ministry said the jet had been shot down.

"Yesterday towards evening, an Su-30 naval aviation fighter jet was shot down by the Ukrainian side 50 kilometres west of Novorossiisk. This was done from an uncrewed boat with an R-73 SAM (surface-to-air missile)," the blogger, who goes by the name Rybar, wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
