Not sure if this is the thread for mock drafts, but Zierlein has the Commanders trading the 29th pick to the Browns. I am going to assume for the Browns 2nd and 3rd round picks. 2nd round is the 1st pick for the Browns and I will assume a high 3rd rounder. Here is the mock he posted yesterday. Thoughts on this?

Really...what's the point in OLs running 40s at the combine?

Would shorter distances like the shuttle or even 20yards (roughly the dstance between the hash marks) be more accurate with a primary emphasis on strength, arm length, and then shorter speed distance?

That'd be a real good value trade but I doubt we'd get a 3rd. Most likely would be their 4th along with the 2nd to move up since its only a few spots.

Yup, that makes sense. I’d trade 29 for 33 and 103 in a minute. Gets you back in the 4th round, but, more importantly, gets you 4 picks in your top 100. This draft isn’t very top heavy, but is very deep in some positions of need for us.

This T class stinks. All of the highly regarded prospects have arm lengths below 34 inches. You're looking at a bunch of future Gs. I might take a shot at Josh Simmons because pre injury he was a top 10 type of talent, but even that is risky.

There are so many good Edge players it's incredible. If we can pull off the Hendrickson trade while giving up, lets say our 2nd or 3rd rounder would be amazing. It would check off one of if not the biggest need. Then allowing AP to work a trade back from 29 for more picks and do his magic in the draft and the rest of FA

Penei Sewell has officially buried the 34 inch arm length myth. Pretty sure I remember making a post about this last offseason where something like 13 of the top 20 tackles in the NFL during the 2023 season had less than 34" arms.

One thing that bugs me about that mock is he has the Texans trading up to draft Kelvin Banks Jr to play at guard. But why would anyone trade up for a guard in the first half of the first round? Especially since they just got burned by Kenyon Green. Well, Zierlein justifies the move by saying they would do it to eventually play him at tackle. But when has a team ever drafted a tackle early in the first, played him at guard, and then eventually moved him back to tackle somewhere toward the end of his rookie deal? I can't really think of any examples. Usually the guys who convert to guard as rookies get stuck there.

I have a hard time giving much attention to any mocks at this point in the season.

There is just too much flux with all the player releases and FA really beginning on Monday.

Add to that all the chatter of teams looking to trade up. Then we don't select until pick 29 and will probably look for a trade back partner.
