I always have unrealistic wants every draft, and I really like Tyler Warren and want a potent TE in our offense.

GC has been talking him up on the thread. I've watched him plenty, yet to land on a take. I really want to see what he runs. He's a hard one for me to tell as to gauging his speed.

Hokie fan here. I loved Tuten, runs pretty tough to be a 200lb back. I'd love to see us pick him up, but not until the 5th round or later.

Some faves to watch from GMFB panel today.

Defensive linemen:

(Cody Kessler pick) Shemar Stewart. Violent punch move, throws people around blocking either right or left.

(Manti T'eo pick) Darius Alexander. Plays like even bigger man, run stuffer.

(Jamie Erdahl pick) Walter Noland, "possibly next Aaron Donald says numerous scouts.


Linebackers:

(Pshrags pick) Carson Schwesinger. One year wonder. Walk on player, had one of greatest single year performances ever.

(Manti T'eo pick) Jihaad Campbell, Alabama. "Explosive, smart." (DJ also said he could steal the show at the combine).

(Cody Kessler pick) Barrett Carter. Great sideline to sideline range, speed, great QB spy.

(Jamie Erdahl pick) Jalon Walker. Butkus winner. Georgia Bulldog. Smart, obsessed with football, lines up where he wants, flexible, smart, can defend pass and pressure.

Seems like a lot of talking heads think DL is the strongest group in this draft. That seems to be a good thing for us.

This comparison comes up a lot with smaller DTs who rush the passer well, and I get frustrated when scouts do this. It's important to maintain perspective about Donald because he's probably the greatest defensive linemen in the history of the sport, and his production is basically unmatched. Especially his collegiate production. There should be a rule against comparing any college player to Aaron Donald unless they put up something close to a 30 TFL season first, because that's the bar they've got to hit to merit the comp.

A more realistic and appropriate alternative "good undersized IDL" comps would be either Ed Oliver and Calijah Kancey.

Comparing college prospects to All Timers is reckless IMO. You might get like two prospects who genuinely have that kind of potential every couple of drafts, and most won't have the career longevity or draft team fortune to hit that status even if they do have the talent. More drafts don't have players with that level of potential than do. I'm trying to think of who would have earned that kind of regard over the last 10 years and the only prospects I can think of (without using hindsight to pick out ex post facto studs like Mahomes) are Myles Garrett, Saquon Barkley, Chase Young, and Brock Bowers. Maybe Trevor Lawrence and Caleb Williams, but QB careers are so heavily effected by the situation they get drafted into that abstract discussions about their potential are almost useless. Chase Young busted and flamed out and Saquon Barkley almost did, so even when you get guys that actually have All Timer natural talent, it's still not very sound to compare them to NFL All Timers.

It sets the bar for expectations in unreasonable territory.
