...Jeanty isn’t the only big-time running back available. In fact, there’s another one close to him, three more with a shot at the first round, and great depth beyond that. Both McShay and Jeremiah mentioned North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton as being pretty close to, if not the equal of, Jeanty—both are bullish on the Tar Heels star.
“I wouldn’t be shocked if some teams ended up having Hampton as their top running back,” Jeremiah says. “He’s bigger and he’s going to run fast. He’s super explosive. He’s loose for a big guy. When I update my top 50, there’ll be less distance between those two. Hampton’s going to move up for me. He’s just a different body. He can catch the ball, he’s very productive, can make you miss. It’s just hard to find guys that are 223 like that.
“A lot of times, you get the speed, the explosiveness, and that comes with some tightness, some stiffness—he’s not stiff at all.”
So both could go in the top 20, and as many as five backs could go in the top 40.
I am in favor of the small trade back if you can find a partner. I'd think AP would be looking for the same unless a real stud fell to 29. It is for just the reason he gave, there are so many players rated similarly between 20 and 50.brandies wrote: Mon Feb 24, 2025 10:17 pmI am thinking we should trade back unless the very right person drops to us.

12. Dallas Cowboys
Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina
I've talked to people in the NFL who have Jeanty and Hampton neck and neck for RB1, and there are even some who prefer Hampton. And I look at Dallas' decision to hire Brian Schottenheimer as coach and can't help but think about his father, Marty, and all those run-heavy offenses he had over 21 seasons in the same job for four different teams. One would think some of that will rub off on the Cowboys' new coach, even with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb in the offense.
But to jump-start the run game, the Cowboys actually need a legit running back. Rico Dowdle was decent (1,079 yards), but he's a free agent and Dallas will likely want to upgrade. Plus, this team has been known to use early picks at the position in the past, including drafting Ezekiel Elliott at No. 4 in 2016. Hampton is a home-run hitter who had 1,660 yards and 15 rushing TDs in 2024.

Bottom five of Pshrags top ten prospects (top five tomorrow).
10. Mich. Will Johnson, DB. Big boy, playing in Will Johnson's all-out blitz defense.
9. Mich. TE Colston Loveland Comp to Kelce
6'5" 245, runs like WR.
8. Ariz. WR Tetaiora McMillan. Big, good hands, comp to Drake London
7. QB Cam Ward. This draft class continues to rank low in studly QBs leaping off the page. Comp-- not even sure he's at Drake maye level but you never know.
6.Georgia. LB Jalon Walker. Georgia is a pass rusher factory. Looks like big time potential.
Picks 5 to 1 tomorrow.

RB TreVeyon Henderson got enthusiastic coverage on GMFB-OT today. Emphasis on not just top level run ability, but really strong on blocking and protecting ball.
Also all commentators pumped RB Caleb Johnson from Iowa. His 1500 yd plus season with 21 tds put him in rare company.
(Know these guya have already been mentioned but still like to note different evaluators rankings)

Yeah Henderson would be great. The more i watch the more i want Hampton but Kaleb wouldn't be a bad consolation prize. He's IMO a poor man's version of Hampton but not that poor. Kaleb like Hampton is a complete back who has both power and speed. Hampton > Kaleb IMO mainly because he's a better weapon in the passing game both as to his hands and as a pass blocker.Jumbo wrote: Tue Feb 25, 2025 11:38 amRB TreVeyon Henderson got enthusiastic coverage on GMFB-OT today. I'd love to have Henderson. Among other things good locker room guy. He seems to fit better in a rotation than being a bell cow RB. Durability has been a concern with him.
I think looking at the nature of our locker room's evolution to date, that character and locker room presence will count a lot to our draft room. I think the boys in charge here def have made it a real thing so far.skinsinparadise wrote: Tue Feb 25, 2025 11:51 amYeah Henderson would be great. Now as to durability, it's one of my big concerns in general in a draft, or vet signings, based on this team's history.
We have such a long list of poor choices of people with injury history. Of course we also had plenty of stumbles with poor character and low drive guys like fat Albert and others. But I attribute most of that to past ownership failings and it's trickle down to coaching staff effects.
A history of health and good character are up there in the list of preferences for me.
