Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels' sensational rookie season comes to an end as he finished the game with 29 of 48 completions for 255 yards and one passing touchdown (to WR Terry McLaurin), one interception, and was sacked three times. He added six carries for 48 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The Commanders' only other scores came from kicker Zane Gonzalez, who made all three of his field goal attempts.

Yesterday sucked but we knew our weaknesses and Philly exploited every single one of them. Plus, the turnovers. That was too much to overcome. Hey, we got to nfc championship game; with our ragtag bunch. It’s simple; we just don’t have the talent yet.

This season is our best in the Post Gibbs 1 era. That’s 1993 to 2024. A long time.

Our 1st season over 10 wins, since the 1991 Superbowl run. Our first time winning in the playoffs since 2005. We went 2-1 in the playoffs and won 2 road playoff games for the first time ever. We learned that Saint Gibbs save us, by convincing Dan to go thru with the sale. We heard Dan was miserable with our success this year. Finally, we found our franchise QB. Our first true franchise QB since Sammy Baugh.

All that in a rookie year. Once we get all the pieces, this team will be real dangerous. We can have a 10 year run and soon, we’ll be able to dish out the pain, that was done to us yesterday.

We are disappointed about yesterday, after a loss like that. We are proud about our unexpected season and for the first time in a long time; we have hope. That hope, lessens the sting about yesterday. They are teams that make runs to the championship game but then disappear. That’s not us. We aren’t disappearing. I believe we are about to go on a nice run; where people will get sick of us, like they are at the Chiefs. After 30 years, I’ll take that. Let the rest of the nfl hate us, because we are winning Superbowls.

I've been curious about some of the minutiae of how we've been operating on STs. Our return games were ruinous and a liability, but outside of the Dallas loss, our coverages seemed surprisingly great. Anyone else find it odd that we stopped kicking touchbacks and started trying to corner kick kickoffs? At first I thought it was because our kicker didn't have the leg but there is no way that's the case every single kickoff. They want to put the ball inside the five in the corner and influence a return. To the point where we accidentally kicked it out of bounds on one of the first kickoffs of the postseason, and still kept trying to corner every kickoff.

So why would we be trying to force returns on kickoffs when everyone else just drills it out of the end zone? It has to be because they feel so good about our coverage teams that they think they can routinely gain yardage and force turnovers on them. And we might have actually been that good on coverage when everyone was healthy. It seems like a nothing part of the game, but big hits on kick returns are big plays that swing the emotion of the stadium right before the defense goes out there. It's also intimidating, because no team is going to want to keep exposing one of their best ball carriers to that, which ultimately makes opposing return games less dangerous. And finally, seeking advantage and demonstrating your competitive culture on a small and overlooked part of the game like this is a demonstration of the detail oriented focus of this coaching staff. They're a genuinely superior group, and they built a really good culture.

Yesterday showed just what a staggering difference in talent there is between us and the true contenders. It also shows just how good Daniels is that he elevated this junk in year 1 to the NFC Title game. The truth is this roster is like a 7 win roster that got elevated to 9-10 because of Daniels, and we managed to win 12 because of a couple fluky wins(Bears and you could argue 1st Giants game as well). Eagles are loaded with blue chippers at every level and it was obvious. We couldn't block them up front or get off their blocks. Their WRs run wide open while ours struggle to get any sort of seperation. It was just eye popping.

But we have a guy at QB. A guy that gives us a chance every week no matter what the circumstances. If Ekeler doesn't have our 3rd fumble of the day, we make this a one score game going into the 4th and who knows what happens? Now we just have to build around him. It'll take a couple years to get talent that can match the Eagles, Lions and 49ers(when healthy) Packers etc. But for the first time in 30+ years we have a path to prosperity.

I disagree. We definitely should have won that Bears game. We dominated them and they almost stole it, but we stole it back. But not only that, we should have won the Steelers game too, and of our six losses, the only ones where we weren't in it down to the wire were the first Bucs, Ravens, and third Eagles games. We also beat the Lions and Bucs on the road this year, and beat the Eagles and Bengals too (before they got banged up). And on top of that, we boatraced almost all of the bad teams we played this year. That's what a good team does, and we're way more than just a star QB.

The offense is like three players away from contending to be the best in the NFL: second pass catcher, left tackle, good running back. The defense needs work, but they've got some legit players now. Secondary has four guys in it who are good, Luvu is outstanding, Fowler is a good rotation rusher, and the IDL has three good players. If you put like four more good players on the D in various positions, they can get good.

With the cap space we've got, we can add another corner and edge and RB in free agency no problem, while retaining basically everyone we want to keep from this year's team. That fixes half our weaknesses right there. We can also realistically pull 2-3 starters from our draft class. We can be a power team next season building on the foundation we already have in place.

We needed a season like this. It showed what talent we have and what we need to upgrade in the off season. I expect us to be busy in free agency but with smart moves, not big splashed for the sake of making headlines.

On another note, I hope the NFL bans the "tush push." This is American Football, not Rugby. I really don't understand the officials comments after the game. The official said, "With the defense, since we deem it as an effort to prevent the score – a repeated act – that’s where the potential for awarding the score comes in," he said.

Isn't it the job of the defense to prevent a score? I've also seen several pics of the Eagles lining up off side but never getting called for that. To me, it's just a bush league play that shouldn't be in the NFL.

They won't ban the tush push. How would you go about enforcing that? Its essentially a QB sneak which has been going on for years. The Eagles are just perfectly built for it, but other teams routinely fail(see Buffalo this past Sunday).
