The run D is still an issue, but I thought over all the DL and the front 7 played well. And they had plays where they actually got stops in the run game. It seemed like they either stopped them for a loss or small gain or gave up 10 yards. But that's actually better than giving up 5 yards every handoff.

People give the secondary credit for the interceptions, and yes they have to catch the ball (and Quan had a great run back). But all of the interceptions were bad throws. That has to do with the scheme keeping Goff confused and pressure keeping him from being comfortable.

They only had the 2 sacks, but they were around Goff enough that they kept him from being comfortable. And the reverse/pass, they bottled up the run option so the guy panicked and threw the pass despite the fact that it wasn't open. But if the front 7 doesn't play it well, then he can just tuck it and run.

(They got behind, but that they didn't get Gibbs 20 carries is really an indictment of their OC. It was pretty clear most of the game that Goff was having issues.)

I love the attitude. They came out swinging and when they got behind early, they didn't stop. They weren't afraid of the moment.

They were prepared, especially on offense.

They keep playing like they've been there before and thats step 1 in any upset, imo...

Next Gen Stats Insight for Commanders-Lions (via NFL Pro): Jayden Daniels completed 12 of 16 attempts against the blitz for 191 yards and a touchdown, the second-most passing yards against the blitz by a rookie in a game since 2016 (in the regular season or postseason).
The alternative to not blitzing for them was get zero pressure and let Jayden have six seconds to throw. The Lions were desperate because their line was terrible. They lost their three good starters and their depth was bad. It was a season ending Achilles heel and a renewed lesson that teams that want to win the Superbowl need to stack up talent on their lines. A lesson that will absolutely be lost on our dumb shit fans on Reddit, made clear when I read the thousandth take about cutting Payne and Allen this year.

They had no choice but to blitz and hope for the best. Even a dominant secondary can't play coverage all day with no pressure, especially against a QB like Jayden who is a big play runner. They weren't going to stop us, but we also wouldn't have stopped them if they hadn't kept turning it over. I don't think we have an Achilles heel, but we do have a definite weakness against fast running backs. We're slow on defense, particularly at LB, and we're either small or slow on our line. There is literally nothing we can do to stop the Barkley, Bijan, Gibbs class of burner RBs directly. We have only been able to contain them after their passing games collapsed due to injury/turnovers/their OCs going away from them because Ben Johnson is not that good.

It's going to be a different story against Philly. They've got the best OL/DL combo in the playoff field, a strong secondary, a TE that we won't be able to cover, and a RB that we won't be able to contain. They're going to be tough, and it really blows that Cosmi went down because Jalen Carter is going to tear up that back up guard. They probably will just sit back in coverage and get quick wins on the line, and it's going to be hard to get separation for Terry, handcuffed to the left side of the field, and a bunch of try hard JAG receivers at every other option. Jayden is going to have to do the playmaking and play totally clean, and we're going to have to keep forcing turnovers.

Saquon sprained his wrist in that divisional round game and AJ Brown looked slow and Jalen Hurts looked bad. They're beatable for sure, but they match up well with our weaknesses and we're going to have to be perfect again.

Barkley and Mitchell will be fine. But Hurts looks legitimately hurt. He literally could not move at the end of the game and didn't give a clear answer on whether he'd be okay or not after the game.

If he's hobbled in anyway, I'm putting 9 guys in the box and committing everything I have to the run, and letting Lattimore and Sarinstil check Brown and Smith 1 on 1.

I think they should just do that anyway, no matter how bad Hurts is hurting. Maybe not 9 guys in the box all the time but stuff the line as much as possible and trust Lattimore and Mikey.
