Israel has dropped the, we're going to destroy Hamas language and they've agreed to a multi-stage cease fire.

We'll see how long it last.

This looks like the same deal that was on the table last May. Maybe Netanyahu thinks he’s killed enough of Hamas while avoiding a longer war which would antagonize the new Trump administration.. But I’d be skeptical if there are not remnants who will rebuild using the resentment in Gaza from all the blood spilt.

I think that Israel is wanting to rest/regroup before it moves on to its next major enemy Iran, betting that Trump will be tougher on Iran this time around.

You're not getting a ceasefire, especially with Trump coming in...even though Trump is trying to take credit for it.

I don't think Israel is going to invade Iran, and I don't think Trump will either. Killing the leadership might be possible, but I'm doubtful even that will happen. That just throws Iran into chaos and risks even a more extremists regime taking over Iran (and then Iraq), and that's something the Arab Gulf states will support.

(Also to be fair, I'm sure there are some on the Hamas side that are seeing this as a chance to rest/regroup.)

I agree. I was thinking more along the lines of air strikes on nuclear weapon research sites.

I don’t think they would kill the leadership.

I'm still expecting annexation during his term...the deal is essentially the same that Netanyahu has been rejecting
