Advice for Elon Musk from the Most Successful Third-Party Campaign in Modern History
A new third party created by a billionaire, born out of frustration with the ballooning federal deficit and the two-party system. We’re talking about Ross Perot’s Reform Party, of course.
The parallels to Elon Musk and his America Party are obvious, but Musk may be lucky to get as far as Perot did. The Texas businessman won roughly 19 percent of the popular vote when he ran for president in 1992 — the most successful bid by any independent candidate in modern history — and took in nearly 8.5 percent in 1996. His Reform Party became, at least briefly, a real political force to be reckoned with, even catapultinga former professional wrestler into a governor’s office. But it was ultimately no match for the U.S.’s two-party system, and its influence fizzled out by the 21st century.
Could Musk succeed where Perot didn’t? We asked Russell Verney, a top adviser to Perot’s presidential campaigns and a former chair of the Reform Party — and Verney isn’t optimistic.
“It’s not something you do by posting on Twitter that you have a political party. It takes a lot more work than that,” Verney said in an interview with POLITICO Magazine.
Still, Verney said Musk’s efforts might still have an impact. Despite Perot’s defeat, his clamoring for deficit reduction reshaped the political debate and fueled President Bill Clinton’s push for a balanced budget. Musk could have similar sway, if he puts in the work.
“My basic advice is: Go to rehab and then focus on creating a new political party from a position of seriousness, not of anger, not of retribution, not of retaliation,” Verney said.

The Egocentric Eccentric Exploits of Elon
Grok had a chaotic few days — and now Elon Musk says he's adding the AI to Teslas
Tesla owners could be about to get a controversial backseat driver.
Elon Musk said Thursday that Grok, the chatbot built by his company xAI, would soon be available on Tesla's vehicles, after a chaotic week in which the AI model posted a series of inflammatory and antisemitic responses on X.
"Grok is coming to Tesla vehicles very soon. Next week at the latest," the billionaire wrote in a post on X.
It came hours after xAI debuted Grok 4, the latest version of the AI model. The Tesla CEO said that the new update would allow Grok to solve "difficult, real-world engineering questions" it had never seen before.
The launch followed a tumultuous few days for the "truth-seeking" AI system.
On Tuesday, xAI removed numerous posts made by Grok on Musk's social media site X, after the chatbot praised Adolf Hitler, linked Ashkenazi Jewish surnames to "anti-white hate," and made antisemitic jokes.

Meet the new CEO of X: this ouija board that speaks directly to Hitler’s ghost
Following Linda Yaccarino’s departure as CEO of X this morning, Elon Musk wasted no time holding a press conference to announce her successor: a ouija board with a direct supernatural connection to the ghost of Adolf Hitler.
“This ouija board was Linda’s natural successor!” Musk yelled into the microphone, brandishing the board above his head with the enthusiasm of a hyperactive toddler at Christmas. “Finally, my company will be run by someone who understands what we at X are trying to do: champion anti-semitism and spread Nazi ideology with seemingly zero repercussions.”
Musk took a moment to passionately kiss the ouija board before adding, “I speak to Adolf every morning now, and he’s got some great ideas for what we should do with X moving forward. I particularly liked his idea to make a new Swastika checkmark if you qualify as a member of what he calls the ‘Master Race’.”
“Plus, Adolf says that I am the perfect man to artificially inseminate all women of pure descent. He called it ‘Lebensborn’ or something, ha ha. He’s so epic.”

Lol. Comey’s chickens coming home to roost.China wrote: Thu Jul 10, 2025 6:01 pmTrump administration targets Comey and Brennan with new investigation
The Trump administration has put two repeated targets of President Donald Trump under criminal investigation, although details of what exactly they are being investigated for or how far the Justice Department intends on taking the probes are unclear.
The two targets are former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired in his first term, according to a statement that a Justice Department spokesperson provided to reporters.
Fox News reported the existence of the investigations Tuesday evening. After referring to Comey and Brennan, the spokesperson said the Justice Department does "not comment on ongoing investigations."
A lawyer for Comey had no comment. The FBI declined to comment.
"It is hard to believe that here we are 8½ years [after the 2016 presidential election], we’re still going over this ground that has been, I think, fairly well and exhaustively plowed," Brennan said. He went on to reiterate what he had previously told NBC News, that he has not been contacted by the Justice Department or the CIA about the investigation.
As for Brennan, a source briefed on the matter said CIA Director John Ratcliffe had made a criminal referral of Brennan to the Justice Department. Exactly what prompted the Comey investigation is unclear.
Ratcliffe last week released an internal CIA review that criticized Brennan’s handling of a 2017 intelligence assessment concluding that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to help Trump defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
Any conduct that took place during that campaign or even in most of Trump’s first term is now outside the typical five-year statute of limitations for federal crimes.

So this is weaponizing the DOJ to go after his enemies, and waste fraud and abuse of government resources since nothing will come of it since it's past the statute of limitations even if they were to find something (which they won't, especially since they've already been investigated by Special Counsel Durham in Trump's first term).
