Toronto-area school bus driver seen in vehicle with ‘Lolita’s Line’ sign in window removed from route

A school bus driver in Vaughan, Ont., who was seen driving a vehicle with a sign in the window that read “Lolita’s Line” while dressed in what appears to be a schoolgirl’s uniform will no longer provide transportation to and from the school, the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) confirms.

In a statement to CTV News Toronto, a spokesperson for the board said it was aware of a social media video filmed at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Elementary School that appears to show parents confronting the driver.

“Why do you call your bus ‘The Lolita Line?’ Why is it called ‘The Lolita Line?’” asks one parent in the video posted June 8.

Vladimir Nabokov’s 1955 novel “Lolita” tells the story of a professor who kidnaps and sexually abuses a 12-year-old girl.

The parents are also heard taking issue with the fact that the bus driver appears to be dressed in a schoolgirl’s uniform.

The bus driver is heard saying that they “do this every week.”

“And I don’t think there’s any problem,” they are heard saying to the parents before driving away.

The YCDSB said third-party companies provide school busing in Ontario and staff members “immediately” brought the incident to the attention of the bus driver’s employer.

“The company quickly addressed this situation with its employee and the driver will no longer provide busing to and from the school.

Angry Beekeeper Sets Bees on Police During Routine Traffic Stop

A 70-year-old Spanish beekeeper was so upset about being stopped by traffic police that he set his bees on the officers, causing them to take shelter in a restaurant.

An unusual incident took place last Friday, on the N-II road in Cervera, a small town in the Catalonian province of Lleida. A local police patrol noticed that the driver of a van wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was driving erratically, so they pulled him over. The 70-year-old man immediately set the tone of the interaction with the phrase “I should have run you over!” and things only got more heated from then on. Suspecting that the man was under the influence of alcohol, the officers asked him to take a breathalizer test, which yielded a result of 0.38mg/l, but when they asked him to repeat the procedure to confirm the first reading, the driver became really upset and threatened to kill them.

“Now I’m going to kill you,” the irritated beekeeper allegedly shouted at the traffic cops, and before they could even react, he went to the back of his van and unleashed a swarm of honey bees that immediately started attacking the policemen. According to the Catalan newspaper Segre, the two policemen were stung several times and had to flee the scene to take refuge in a nearby restaurant, while the beekeeper casually got in his car and drove off. After calling for reinforcement, the policemen were able to leave the restaurant and track down the elderly beekeeper. The unnamed man was arrested but released on bail just hours later after giving a statement.

Runner takes on challenge dressed as testicles

A charity fundraiser has run 150km (90 miles) along the length of Hadrian's Wall dressed as a pair of testicles to try reducing the stigma around testicular cancer.

Toby Freeman from Colchester is the founder of Robin Cancer Trust, a charity set up in memory of his older brother who died from testicular cancer in 2011.

His latest challenge - part of a bid to run 500km (311 miles) in total - has seen him run coast to coast from Cumbria to Tyneside across three days dressed in his eye-catching costume.

"It was absolutely incredible," said the 35-year-old.

Doctors Find Live Eel Swimming in Man’s Abdominal Cavity

Yesterday, Chinese newspaper Huaihua Daily reported the unusual case of a Hunan man who showed up at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Medical University with a pale face, sweating profusely, and complaining of stomach pain. A CT scan of the man’s abdomen showed a foreign object that seemed to have pierced his stomach and ended up in his abdominal cavity. The man’s abdomen was already as hard as a board, and fearing a potentially fatal peritonitis, doctors decided to perform laparoscopic emergency surgery. While exploring the man’s abdomen, they were shocked to discover a live eel swimming among his organs.

During the operation, doctors found that the eel had completely drilled through the intestinal wall and was now “swimming” in the abdominal cavity, which was at risk of becoming infected if not treated immediately. Using a clamp-like instrument, the surgeon managed to grab and remove the eel, then sutured the hole in the sigmoid colon and flushed the abdominal cavity with saline solution to minimize the risk of infection.

Although the medical experts involved in this case did not discuss how the eel got into the man’s colon, it wasn’t too difficult for people to deduce…

“Everyone knows how he got in”, one person commented.

“He sat on it accidentally,” someone else wrote.

‘I Buy Crack Houses,’ ‘Your House is Trash’ billboards drawing criticism in Cleveland

A billboard that reads “Yes! I Buy Crack Houses,” put up by what appears to be an out-of-state investor, is drawing sharp criticism across Cleveland.

After backlash from community members and city officials, that particular sign has been taken down. But others like it remain in place.

Local real estate investors Avery and Tania Mullins said the signs go too far.

“To me? It just wasn’t funny,” said Avery Mullins.
